2014 AGS Bracket Challenge

Let's get the sign up rolling. You simply reply with "I'm in" and we'll make you a bracket. Try to limit the discussion in here because I need to comb it for those entering the contest.

Scoring
Official scoring process:
Each correct pick in a given round will be given the following points:
1st Round - 15
2nd Round - 15
Quarterfinals - 30
Semifinals - 50
Finals - 100

The scores will be used for deductions or bonuses from each total. If an exact score is guessed, there will be a ten point bonus added. There will be a tenth of a point deduction for each point a prediction for each separate team is off the actual score for that given team. This is not how many points your combined score was off the real combined score. For example, joe picked A over B 27-14. The final score was A winning 24-17. The combined scores were both 41, but joe was 3 off A's final score and 3 off B's final score. Therefore, .6 will be deducted from his points for that round. If B had won that game, joe simply would not have gotten points for that respective game.

First round scoring example:
A over B - 27-14
A beat B 24-17 15 points for the win minus .6 = 14.4
C over D - 31-10
C beat D 24-10 15 points for the win minus .7 = 14.3
E over F - 14-7
F beat E 17-14 no points awarded for loss
G over H - 24-21
G beat H 24-21 15 points for the win plus 10 for nailing the score = 25

14.4 + 14.3 + 0 + 25 = 53.7 for Round one.



I have multiple things going on right now, so don't expect to get your brackets within the minute after you sign up, but we'll get them out to you quickly.

The deadline will be sometime late Friday evening as I should be able to keep it open as late as possible.

Second, remember that you need to complete every round in your bracket. I have seen a couple brackets just doing the first round. The entire bracket needs to be finished before the deadline.

As nator said. I just copied the names from the previous field by ctrl-c the winner from each pod and moving them on. Simple typing in the cells works as well.

No, once you fill it out it's auto saved. I always move the pointer to an expty cell that I was not working on and click it just to make sure the last submission is in but that is all there is to it.

I've had a few people ask if they're bracket is done, which is understandable because there is no submit or save button. However, if you've done the work, I can automatically see it. That's the way google docs works. I can't quick get a list of who has all finished, but I can tell you if you haven't heard from me today, your bracket is just fine. Well, Fordham/Sacred Heart has finally kicked off and the playoffs have begun. There were 130 users who submitted a completed bracket, which smashes the old record by 28! Way to sign up everyone!

There are 16 incomplete brackets. A good amount of those people were users who haven't logged on since Monday or Tuesday, so I can understand those not finishing. However, there are a few who have been online the last day or so. For those 5 or 6 people, there will be a grizzly bear sent to your doorstep, and no it will not be Gentle Ben. So, the scoring for the first round will take a little time before it is posted. After this round, I will be able to update things almost instantaneously though.

94 points for me if my calculations are correct. Came ultra-close to nailing the scores of the top half of the bracket. The bottom half - not so much. Thought SLC-fest was the worst of it, but seriously overestimated SDSU's defense. Too bad James Madison couldn't pull it out or I'd be really confident about being right at the top. Hopefully 94 is still good enough for #10-ish?

I do all of this on Excel, so right now it is only posted on my laptop. I've finally reached the century mark in brackets finished, so I might be on the final stretch. I haven't gotten to your bracket yet, so I can't even tell you where you're ranked.

I really appreciate you doing this, but there is a way to automate the pick entry/calculations in excel. Message me if you want help. Might be too late this year, but it will help for next year.

Finally got all 134 brackets submitted. I really thought there would be more people who correctly picked all 8 games. Before I post the scores, I gotta point out that you're all getting beat by a girl. I convinced my gf to do a bracket just for fun and she picked all 8 winners. You're probably thinking she must be some expert, but she is an alum of an FBS school and only knows two things about the FCS, that Montana rules and Montana State drools. xnodx

One other note, BisonFan02 had his 4 year old make picks and even though she picked San Diego to win, her bracket is beating 55 posters. So, I'd say now is the time to feel embarrassed. ;)

The score stays as long as you have the winner. Even though, you intended each score for the specific team in that spot, for scoring purposes I consider each team as being designated for that game regardless of who you have the loser being.

well damn..i wish i could change my score on the teams I missed..most people based their scores off the team they were playing (e.g - I'd pick a bigger score if I had MSU vs. NDSU because MSU doesn't have a defense and their offense is "eh" as opposed to SDSU, i'd pick a closer game with lower scores).

i mean i get it..and its a great system...i was just giving reason for my pretend complaint.
