Would have been nice if NC A&T was ranked when we beat them.

I take back what I said about TSN. The poll I looked at before had the updated results of the teams, but still had JMU at 25 and Richmond way higher.

With that said, there are still a couple head scratchers.

Would love to see the ballots with San Diego and Jacksonville in them, wouldn't be shocked if some of them have both teams in. TSN is the biggest homer poll around.

I wonder if the Sports Network voters or the SIDs who vote in the Coach's poll even look at what Montana has done this year before they rank them. Based on the results the answer appears to be "not a chance".

FWIW, the NDSU guys who vote in this poll (WDAY TV's Dom Izzo and the Fargo Forum's Jeff Kolpack) called out TSN last week for how inaccurate the poll is getting and suggested that they cut back on the number of voters they allow (160 voters is a lot).

There's different ways of look at that. NDSU beat Montana when they were ranked in the top 5 but I think everyone agrees Montana is not a top 5 team this year and the win has likewise lost some of it's luster. I look at it as a positive if you beat a team early in the year who turns out to be much better that their ranking (or lack thereof) indicated when you beat them. For instance, CCU's win over NC A&T is more impressive to me than their win over Furman (who was ranked at the time) just because of how each team has played after their loss to CCU.

So MSU beats an Idaho State team that was receiving votes, and was ranked in the AGS poll (I believe?), and stays put, but Montana beats a bad SUU team and moves up 3 spots.

These pollsters live and die by the slotting procedure. It's impossible for a team to move up if no one in front of them lost.

24 votes, wasn't expecting that. What a job Jerry Mack is doing. We dont play South Carolina State and Bethune next year so I hope we overload our non-conference schedule.

It isn't the amount, it is the quality. I would venture a guess most of these guys put 5 minutes into their poll, looking at scores of games at the most.

I will say this, and I am only using Izzo and Kolpack as an example, if your team is good you probably pay more attention to what is happening out there.

Exactly, I generally look at where teams are at the end of the year to determine what the strength of schedule was for a team. NC A&T cracking the top 25 helps us. Liberty dropping out of it hurts us next week. However, I'm surprised to see that Charleston Southern and Liberty are staying as close to the top 25 as they are.

Indiana State was ranked 23rd and beat #15 Youngstown State and was jumped by 25th ranked James Madison that beat #14 Richmond.

Robert Morris 8,

This has to be a joke right??? Someone should have their voting priviledges taken away.

Guessing that was a #18 vote meant for Richmond. Just like the 23 points Jackson St got was likely a #3 vote meant for Jacksonville St. It happens in the AGS poll too, I just think the ballots are vetted better by AGS so it's usually caught before it's released. Although with 160 ballots to sift through it's a tedious proposition for TSN.

And they clearly don't care enough to do it. If they are suppose to be a legit poll, make sure your people don't slip up. I don't see any votes for Ohio U getting into the AP poll meant for Ohio State.... Its just sloppy...

I'll say it again, post all the ballots online and these people will become better voters quickly. The FBS AP poll posts every voter's top 25 online.

Dead on. I think we have let one slip this year but every time it happens the voter get an email inquiring on it.

There is not a single voter who could watch every game, even if they were all televised.
