OK let me start by saying I cant confirm these stats aside from the boxscores on Yahoo and the Game Channel on the A10 website. I am waiting for the audio top be archived on Yahoo so I can listen again because I dont recall a couple big plays that could inflate the stats. If these stats do hold up then 2 candidates for this weeks POTW come from UNH

Chad Kackert - RB Freshman

6 rushes for 174 yards and a TD. 29.0 avg. Box score credits him with a 96 yard TD run in the 4th qtr. I was away from thye computer when this play would have occured.

Ricky Santos - QB Junior

Passing: 23-32 271 yards 2 TD
Rushing: 12 carries for 132 yards and 3 TDs (again he is credited with a 89 yard run to set up a score, however I dont recall the play and am waiting to confirm it when the game audio is archived)

Robert Morris players of the week after a 41-21 win over Sacred Heart:

Offense - QB Erik Cwalinski. 20-28 for 270 yards and 2TDs.
Defense - DT Matt Brunck. Six tackles, two tackles for a loss, one sack, one forced fumble, one pass deflection, and one 16 yard interception return for a touchdown.

In lieu of a special teams player, another defensive player that could very well earn some accolades with some sexier statistics: FS James Kazil returned the fumble that Brunck caused 94 yards for a touchdown and came up 2 yards short on his 2nd score of the day after returning an interception 57 yards and being brought down at the 2 yard line.

OK not sure what happened but the 96 yard TD run that the box score attributes to Kackert was actually a 3 yard TD run, so his numbers may be way off.

Lehigh Senior DB Brannon Thomas--returned to the secondary a few weeks ago and his presence has be 'felt' --ask Fordham's TE, if he's still coherent...Thomas put a hellacious hit on him after momentarily grabbing a pass on a crossing pattern. Ball separated. However, Thomas grabbed TWO interceptions, returning one about 30 yards and almost scoring.
After the game, he said in an interview that he may be eligible for a medical redshirt and could return next year!

Youngstown State
Moquante Gibson

So whats this have to say bout Mason? Is he just a plug in for that system, is YSUs offense built around the run, or is there no rush D in the Gateway?

Mason breaks the tackles, Gibson had 41 carries, most in YSU history, hence he will get a lotta yards. Our line is flat out amazing,.... just watching them on tv you'd say wow!

And in a must-win game for the Dawgs against a UNI team that was supposed to have a good rushing D, Arkee came up huge.

Kudos to Bercegeay for a pressure performance with the McNeese maintaining control of its own playoff destiny riding on his shoulders. The field goals were from 46, 41, 40, 39, and 28 yards. The 39 yarder came with 25 seconds left and tied the game. The 28 yarder won it in overtime.

For Lafayette:

Joe Ort broke the team record for single game receving yards with 10 catches for 274 yds. Jonathan Hurt had 22 carries for 135 yards and 4 TDs. Brad Maurer had his first career 300 yard game and finished 12/19 for 305 yards.

Here's the boxscore:

Thigpen vs. Drafts this coming week!

And you know we can't wait....I have a feeling Thigpen's stats will show without a doubt who the better QB is....It just took time for him to develope in this offense.

Good call LeopardFan04 I was gonna put up the trio from Lafayette. Frankie T has the guys firing on all cylinders just in time to beat Lehigh and go to the playoffs. I'll see you on Saturday.

Home brewed or not. If my research is correct, YSU held WKU without a TD for only the third-time since they joined the GFC, and the only I-AA club to do so. The other two were Auburn and Alabama. Mason has proven to be one of, if not the best back in I-AA; which moved Q Gibson to #2 in the depth chart. He has had a persistant hamstring injury, but get's the start over an injured Mason. He proceeds to rush 43 times for almost 250-yards and a pair of TD's. If this is not most heart-felt and impressive performance of the week...if not the season...what is? When you look at star players, great performances are expected. But when your #2 TB comes in has a career game like that ... it is almost unbelievable. For all of you Santos fans ... that is like Hendricks coming in and passing 40 of 42 for 500-yards ...would you not say that was the perfomance of the week? Just my opinion, take it for what it is worth.

Good performances are exceptional players having ordinary games.
Great performances are good players having exceptional games.

Have to put in a good word for:

NDSU QB Steve Walker
His 13/16 142 3TD might not sound impressive, but the incompletions were two dropped TDs and a throwaway. He also claimed two school records for career completions(354) and passing TDs(39). He now holds at least 11 school records and is 236 yards from becoming the career yardage leader.

Oh, and he's also a junior.
