Flames put the Bucs on their heels right off the get to with that long pass for a TD. 13-0 after 2 Flame posessions. Time to BUC UP!!!!!!!!!!

That is true, but they have not faced a defense like the Flames yet so that kinda has me worried going 2 scores down right off the bat.

Liberty has Chuck South playing from two TDs down early in the game...

Not good for the Bucs, who will be eliminated from playoff consideration with a loss. Glad to see not voting for them in the top 25 may have been on the $$$...

They are a fourth quarter team. If they can hold them to 2 scores, they will get back in it

I'm not too sure about that...

Can't really say CSU has played any teams of note in order to prove they are a 'fourth quarter team'...:twocents:

Liberty is a tough foe and I think should have no problem finishing this game off against CSU...

But after what happened against G-W when we blew a 17-0 halftime lead, no one in Lynchburg feels this one is a done deal.

And Liberty, according to their 4-5 record, is a mediocre team.

this game should also be a lesson for a certain other team from southern California too.

Go on the road, against a full-scholly team (average or better) and see what happens.

Sly Fox
November 11th, 2006, 03:34 PM
Thanks, Rok. As I said on your board, sorry we stole some of the sizzle from next week's season fianle in Conway. But as you remember last year in Chucktown, you don't want to be sharing any title with the Bucs THAT way. :D

For the record, the Flames can finish the season with a winning record with a victory next Saturday at VMI. While that is far from a done deal, it would mark a rather sizeable step forward for a program that was 1-10 last year.

rokamortis
November 11th, 2006, 03:39 PM

SuperJon

Ok, so someone explain this too me:

I expect LU to beat VMI next week to go to 2-2 in the conference.

GW is done in conference with a 2-2 record (I think).

If Coastal beats CSU, CSU will be 2-2.

How do the standings play out? LU beat CSU who beat G-W who beat LU.

No, not if it's 3-way, no possible way for a tie-breaker.

I just got home and I must say Liberty outplayed us in every phase. They whiped us from start to finish. It was the first time I've seen a game at LU, they dif. have a homefield adavantage and a great enthusiastic crowd.
Liberty was the best team today, they're big strong and they play hard and when it boils down to it they just wanted it more.
With losing only 9 people to graduation liberty will be a force in the Big South next season.

We don't have a chance next week if Drafts is out.

It's late, I'm tired and I'm going to bed.

rokamortis
November 12th, 2006, 07:42 AM
Our radio announcers said that they had done some 'research' and that it appeared that even though Drafts was knocked out of the game that he was only held out of the rest of the game because the score was already out of hand and the coaches didn't want to risk further injury against the hard hitting Liberty defense.

I believe if Drafts could have played, he would have. At that point we were down by 21. We’ve come back many times by a huge margarine (VMI 2004 down by 21 in 4 Qtr.) So I don’t think the coaches or Collin would Chalk it up as a loss.

The backup quarterback got hit so hard one time that his helmet came flying off.

After CSU's last touchdown, they botched the snap for the XP and the holder took off. He tried to stiff arm one of LU's players and ended up getting body slammed instead.

Hey SJ your fans are great! My brother said “Just imagine if they were all liquored up” You guys kept enthusiasm all games and definitely have a hand in you teams success.

Although I’m glad she was ok with it I don’t agree with targeting players girlfriends or family, that can go to far.

Congratulations and you guys have a great atmosphere for football Saturdays, good clean sober fun, the way it should be.

SuperJon
November 12th, 2006, 02:09 PM
I didn't target her. I was giving Collin a compliment. His girlfriend is extremely good looking.

Yesterday was the best the fans have been since the monsoon on opening night. We still have some idiots who don't know football (Christian school and home schooled kids who have never been to games) but we're working on it. I was the first person on the field after the game was over.

Before the game one of the trainers asked my and my group of friends what we had planned for the game and then went and asked another section of guys what they had planned because apparently we have a reputation.

Your coach is awesome. He passed along this note after the game:

http://upload4.postimage.org/1628545_04f1b09626efd63e9c86c3c449394661/2.jpg

We keep it clean, and that means we have to get more creative than a lot of schools, thus the bagpipes in the stands and other things like that.

He’s a classy guy. I think it showed well upon Jay’s character influence on our guys in how they handled themselves during/after having in handed to them. A lot of teams would have shown bad character, but our guys didn’t.
Liberty played with class as well, not what I was expecting after hearing Coastal fans. But, they played hard, with class, and with great discipline. Liberty should be in great shape next year with what they have coming back. They should be favored heavily next year to win the Big South.

Coach Gomes after the game was great. With all the fans on the field and both teams he kept the message short but it packed a punch. Maybe it was just because we won that made me think it was better than normal.

I don’t have as much class I guess as Mills and the rest of the Bucs. It’s hard for me to gather at midfield with the “enemy” after a loss.

What did he say?

SuperJon
November 12th, 2006, 03:10 PM
It's the typical thing after games. LU gets both teams together at midfield and does a short thing where the two teams pray together. LU prays before the game and they pray after the game. It's just what we do.

CSU BUCS
November 12th, 2006, 03:12 PM
We pray too, just usually not with the opposition. But it was good that the two christian school prayed together.

SuperJon
November 12th, 2006, 03:26 PM
All of our sports pray with the opposing team after the games. It's LU's way of using athletics to witness to others.
