How would anyone vote for Tennessee Tech? They are 1-3 with a win over Kentcuky Christian (33-7) and Losses to Indiana State (49-14), Tennessee State (10-7) and Northern Iowa (50-7). Yet they have 5 points and UCA has 2 and Stephen F Austin has 1?

Too much love for Delaware at this point. With Sacred Heart, Elon, and Towson at home in the coming weeks it is feasible that this team could start 6-1 and still not be worth a damn. Rhode Island is another game that the Hens should be favored in, so making the huge assumption this team doesn't crap the bed one or more times beforehand, we could be looking at 7-2 with three games to win one, just like last year. The schedule is back-heavy and it won't be until the William & Mary, Albany, New Hampshire, Villanova section that we will learn anything about what they have in the tank. I wouldn't vote for them at this point.

Probably meant to put Tennessee State at #20 and scrolled a little too far. Not enough love for Missouri State, IMHO. Chuck South has no business getting votes.

How about St Fracis with 11 points? Their 0 D1 wins and recent 80-0 white washing of Lynchburg must've really impressed a few TSN voters. I wasn't sure if Lynchburg was NCAA or NAIA affiliated so I looked up their web site: http://www.lynchburg.edu/lc-day/athletics

Athletics are big at Lynchburg College. More than 70 percent of students participate in varsity, intramural, and club sport activities.
I can see how a win over the Hornets would impress the prestigious and knowledgeable TSN voters.

....when your poll gets worse than the FCS Coach's Poll it's time to shelve it. The TSN poll is there.

But still what is Tennessee State doing in the poll anyway?

St. Francis played Virginia University of Lynchburg (VUL), not Lynchburg College. LC doesn't have a football team.

I don't mean to badmouth all of you that vote in that poll but there are clearly some voters who don't care or are not very thorough.

I thought Bethune Cookman would drop harder after that near disaster against Florida Tech. NC A&T is the best in the MEAC.

The main reason why the MEAC has a shot to be a two bid league again this year.

I actually think Bethune will lose a conference game(hopefully to NCCU) which will wreck their chances.

did some comparison between the 3 polls (TSN, Coaches, AGS)

21 teams in all 3 polls
5 teams in 2 of 3
2 teams in 1 of 3 (Delaware, NAU)

3 teams in same spot in all 3 (#1 NDSU, #2 EWU, #8 JSU)
15 teams within 3 spots (highest ranking minus lowest ranking)
23 teams within 6 spots (highest ranking minus lowest ranking)

biggest discrepancies: Delaware (TSN 24, Coach 34, AGS 38); NAU (Coach 25, TSN 29, AGS 39); Indiana State (AGS 21, TSN 25, Coach 31); Chattanooga (TSN 14, Coach 14, AGS 22); Missouri State (AGS 19, Coach 23, TSN 26)

I find it funny how some people get all worked up about some team that appears way down in the "Others Receiving Votes" list. There are bound to be some voters that do something crazy, especially at the end of their ballots (20-25), especially in a poll with a large voting base. I've seen some polls (example: the AVCA coaches poll in ncaa womens volleyball) that only lists teams that appear on 2 or more ballots in the ORV category.

AGS only lists the next 15, for a total of 40 teams. If you ever look at the ORV section of the How They Fared, there are often 50-60 teams that received votes. Only the top teams from that are actually listed though.

so if all the teams that received votes in the AGS poll were listed, it would probably include just as many crazy ones as the TSN poll

I'd doubt it, at least this week. St Francis got 11 votes in the TSN poll which would've been enough points to show up in the AGS top 40. Tennessee Tech at 5 would've been tied for 40th in the AGS poll. Neither of those teams have a D1 win and both have been blown out several times by legit top 25 teams. You can say the TSN poll has more voters but it doesn't excuse it IMO.

Now the difference may be that TSN doesn't screen their ballots like ursus and the poll committee does here. In the end it doesn't make a difference to me because TSN still puts their name on the poll and, if that's the case, they're allowing mistaken ballots through without any screening system.

We did just get an e-mail saying to be careful with your vote, i.e., putting the wrong team in a spot because it's next to another similar school on the pulldown menu. That has to be the explanation for Tennessee Tech getting any votes, since it's right next to Tennessee State.
