Eastern Illinois intercepted a pass to get into scoring position and had a nice TD pass wiped out by a BAD call. The officials called the Panthers for a highly questionable pick call in the end zone. Been a pretty dull game since Illinois State smashed the ball down EIU's throat on the first possession for the game's only touchdown.

Still 7-3 with nine minutes left in the half.

I'm not sure either of these teams look like playoff-caliber clubs to me, though EIU will have the OVC schedule to prove, or mis-prove that. Eastern Kentucky and Jacksonville State are going to be tough to beat in the OVC. And don't overlook Tennessee State.

So often, early-season polls are related to a team's performance last season. Eastern Illinois will not be ranked with another loss today.
