Nice to see the ACC not going the same way as the Big 10 in not scheduling FCS teams. Great games on that list!!

The ACC definitely has a good history of playing the CAA in games. Good to see the Hens joining the games.

I guess there won't be a game with Temple in the near future. That bums me out a bit...

As it is, good slate of games! They're all reasonable weekend trips and Hens should be able to keep the games respectable, relatively speaking....

Relative to most FBS-FCS games which are blowouts. My guess is the Hens have a solid chance to win one of those. They'll likely take it on the chin too...

Temple has Clemson in a home and home coming up. Lehigh really doesn't need test themselves against the ACC at this point.....

According to the announcement (here (http://www.bluehens.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=29100&ATCLID=209606376)) Ziady is looking for an FBS game for 2018.

Good move by the Hens. W&M has been doing this for a number of years and will continue. Attractive games for both players and fans. We've rolled through Maryland, UNC, NC State, UVA and Va Tech and have future dates scheduled with all but Maryland. All within four hours of Williamsburg. Also adding dates with ODU.

Q: How can NDSU get in on some of this action?

A: Use a giant spaceship with a huge tractor beam to relocate the state of North Dakota to the Mid-Atlantic; either that or convince the Big Ten bigwigs that the ACC has the right idea.

Good move by Ziady. Next step is to start playing home/homes or 2 for 1's with some Patriot or Ivy schools and stop scheduling the likes of West Chester, Del State, Jacksonville, Wagner etc. Better prepare the Hens for the annual Blue Hen Beatdown by the Catholic school with no fans and a high school stadium to the south.

Delaware hasn't played West Chester for several seasons, that ended a while ago. Delaware vs Delaware State was more a creation of ESPN and the media clamoring that UD was being racist, as of this moment the series has not been extended.

Then the school can't complain about the eroding fanbase. Who the hell wants to watch non-conference dreck like the aforementioned schools. Playing a Lehigh or a Penn would better prepare them for the CAA anyway.

How so? Penn's last victory of any accomplishment was over Navy in 1986; Lehigh's game is so weak that even at 10-1 they can't make the playoffs and instead cling to bedtime stories of their playoff victory over the University of Northern Iowa Paper Tigers; a team that according to their own fanbase suffers more injuries in a single season than any team, in any sport, in any country, suffers in a decade, and had to wheel their third string waterboy out to play quarterback after piecing him back together with duct tape and string cheese so he could throw to the head cheerleaders arthritic grandfather as the #1 receiver and they still kept the game to within a touchdown.

You're right. We should forget about beating UNI. We should just go back to beating the CAA champs in the playoffs on a near annual basis.

Near annual basis?
2007 Champs: UMass & Richmond - Lehigh? No playoffs.
2008 Champs: James Madison - Lehigh? No playoffs.
2009 Champs: Richmond & Villanova - Lehigh? No playoffs.
2010 Champs: Delaware & William & Mary - Lehigh? Lost to Delaware.
2011 Champs: Towson - Lehigh? Beat Towson (Congrats on it being true once!)
2012 Champs: UNH, Richmond, Villanova, & Towson - Lehigh? No playoffs... I'm sensing a trend with this "near annual thing" you speak of...
2013 Champs: Maine - Lehigh? No playoffs.

Well, that's every CAA champ, and it looks like you managed this near annual feat once in 7 years.

Way to cherry pick the worst LU period in the last 20 years, but hey, congrats on making the playoffs just as much as we did over that period.

I just looked up the records, and you are absolutely correct. The PL (and LU in particular) has clearly been the CAA's (and UD's in particular) bitch come playoff time. Of course, many who were at most of those games, wouldn't exactly call them ass whoopin's.

Now you can go have fun watching your team beat up on some peon in the Tub who isn't worthy of a return date.

Cherry pick? You set the terms when you said beating the CAA Champs in the playoffs. That is every CAA Champ since the CAA started football in 2007.

So no matter what period we looked into the playoffs, it would have come up with a similar result. Interesting considering just seconds before I was cherry picking.

Kinda like Lehigh at UD in 2005... When was that return date scheduled for?

Personally, I love playing the PL, but the Delaware fans are tired of facing the Ivy League's minions and want to square off with the real deal.

You talk about trying to increase the fanbase with a better OOC schedule and the best you can come up with is Penn and Lehigh? How is that going to bring people to the stadium? As the aforementioned poster has said, Penn hasn't won diddly out of conference in probably decades, and UD has beaten Lehigh fairly handidly in the past, especially playoffs, that people aren't going to see that as a step up. Unfortunately, the fanbase is beyond saving save for a move up in classification - trying to make a new fanbase out of the current state of FCS is a hard sell in these parts. UD did their best to piss off the fanbase that was in place that was perfectly willing to watch FCS when they jacked up prices through actual price increases and then de facto ones with the mandatory donation levels, not to mention with the restriction on tailgating and other little things that added up to a lot. You're not going to move the needle at all in terms of a season ticket holder base with Lehigh and Penn.

So there we have it folks. Delaware is the new ASU, but without the success. They're clearly too good for us. Their peers are clearly Maryland and Rutgers, not the likes of Lehigh and Penn. You guys want to move "up" and start traveling half way across the country to play in front of 5000 fans and a zero share on ESPNU on a Wednesday night.

Hmmm, Home and home with UNH, Nova, and/or JMU, or a one and done for a pittance at UD? I'll take the former.
Guarantee game at Army, Navy, Temple, Buffalo, UMass, UConn, Syracuse, ... or the above mentioned one and done at UD? I'll take the former every time.

Should I lie and just pretend reality isn't reality? Delaware can stay FCS and play an FCS schedule and they'll continue to get about 15k people every game for now and forever. Of course, that's still at least more than double the vast majority of FCS (including Lehigh and Penn). But you're not going to see crowds of 22k consistently like you did at UD for years keeping the FCS schedule. The people who were fine with the FCS schedules were turned off by things that had nothing to do with FCS/FBS discussions - they were turned off by the UD administration deciding to jack up prices while taking away amenities and features that made going to UD games fun. Those people aren't coming back for a whole host of reasons. So if you want attendance at UD to go back to the 22k for every game, then you need to attract new fans to do that, and as the vast majority of FCS schools have shown, new fans don't come out to watch FCS football. Why knock UD when there aren't really enough examples out there to show that it can be done?

If you think that games against Western Michigan and North Texas are going to fill the stands, then go for it. And being honest, I've been to all but one of the Lehigh at UD games in the last 20 years. I've also attended a few other games at the Tub including The Citadel and a West Chester game.
