thanks for share. i can't get on SWAC cause of my company's web blocks (sports).

it seems folks still has a lot of hope for Alabama State, again. we'll see. not much love for JSU do to the revamped coaching staff. PVAM might do something if they fix their defense.

still not feeling that special edition jersey though, Southern. Jags spot should be used somewhere else like down the sides or something. the point is if you all are happy with it.

SWAC Media Day:Watch Video (http://www.wjtv.com/story/26060283/swac-media-day-jsu-alcorn-mvsu-all-have-expectations-for-2014)

JSU, Alcorn, MVSU All Have Expectations for 2014.
BIRMINGHAM, AL - At Friday's SWAC Media Day, Jackson State head coach Harold Jackson said he felt no pressure going into his first season, despite his team's consecutive trips to the SWAC Championship game that resulted in overtime losses the last two years. Alcorn State is being dubbed as a favorite in the league's East Division, and Rick Comegy is not circling Valley's trip to the Capital City on October 11th.

Talking Points: SWAC Media Day preview..........Clarion Ledger (http://www.clarionledger.com/story/sports/2014/07/18/talking-points-swac-media-day-preview/12831877/)
Fall camp is a few weeks away, but for some, today unofficially marks the start of football in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

The SWAC kicks off media day at 9 a.m. in Birmingham. This will be Jackson State coach Harold Jackson's first time at the event, but he's not alone in that situation.

Sophomores LaMontiez Ivy and Javancy Jones will accompany their first-year coach. Plenty of uncertainty awaits this new era in the Tiger program, and here are a few questions we have in mind heading in:

Comegy moving on at MVSU................. Clarion Ledger
After nearly two hours of interviews, Rick Comegy was able to sit and decompress.

But only for a brief moment.

The first-year coach at Mississippi Valley State was a hot commodity at Friday's Southwestern Athletic Conference football media day in Birmingham.

Alcorn State adjusts to contender status in SWAC................Clarion ledger (http://www.clarionledger.com/story/sports/college/jackson-state/2014/07/18/alcorn-state-adjusts-contender-status-swac/12872931/)
BIRMINGHAM – It may sound like coach speak, but Jay Hopson calls it real talk.

The third-year Alcorn State coach is pleased his team was selected to finish second in the Southwestern Athletic Conference Eastern Division, two points shy from the first spot.

But that doesn’t mean much if his players don’t put in the work.

Take Five: Jackson State handing keys to injury-scarred QB Ivy.............Clarion Ledger (http://www.clarionledger.com/story/sports/college/jackson-state/2014/07/18/take-five-jackson-state-handing-keys-injury-scarred-qb-ivy/12872645/)
BIRMINGHAM – Harold Jackson’s last media day experience was in 1994, when he was the head coach at Benedict College.

He said it wasn’t as busy as the Southwestern Athletic Conference’s on Friday in Birmingham.

The first-year Jackson State football coach took the stage with nine other coaches to kick off the season. Here are five things we can take away after they addressed the media:[/SIZE]

Rabalais: The ring’s the thing for Southern, which will aim for another ................. The Advocate VIDEO / READ (http://theadvocate.com/sports/southern/9758581-123/rabalais-the-rings-the-thing)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala . — The Southern Jaguars don’t need a target on the back of their powder blues for opponents to aim at.

Just triangulate on the ring.

Southern’s rings from last season’s SWAC championship rank pretty high on the bling meter. They’re so massive that you had to think Jaguars football players Brian McCain and Arthur Miley, who accompanied coach Dawson Odums to SWAC media day here Friday, got in the equivalent of their daily offseason weight work just toting these things around.

Despite the constant silver reminders, the Jaguars are focused — shades on to protect against the sun’s glare off those rings — on the future.

Back at Grambling, Broderick Fobbs aims to keep the past in the past ................... The Advocate (http://theadvocate.com/sports/9757965-32/back-at-grambling-broderick-fobbs)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala . — When Grambling offered him the job as head football coach, former Tigers player Broderick Fobbs didn’t wonder what condition he would find the program in when he arrived.

“It never really crossed my mind,” Fobbs said Friday at SWAC media day. “When momma calls, you come home. You don’t think about what state the house is in.”

The 2013 season was one of unprecedented controversy for Grambling. The program fired legendary former Grambling quarterback Doug Williams as its coach, then midseason players boycotted their game at Jackson State in protest of their substandard workout and practice conditions and the appointment of George Ragsdale as interim coach.

ASU Hornets picked to win division...............Montgomery Advertiser
BIRMINGHAM –

Reggie Barlow has established Alabama State as the team to beat in the Southwestern Athletic Conference on an annual basis. Now he has to guide his team through the season to finish where it started.

The Hornets once again were picked to win the SWAC East Division in preseason balloting by the league's coaches, media directors and beat writers, a tribute to the type of program built by Barlow, who is beginning his eighth year.

"I think we've been picked before, and I just look at it as respect from the coaches and the sports information directors to see that we have brought along some good players and student-athletes and our coaches are doing a good job of recruiting," Barlow said. "And our concepts and philosophies on offense and defense are good. We'll take it as a pat on the back, but obviously we know we still have to play the game on the field."

Where was Alabama A&M picked to finish in SWAC in 2014?..............Huntsville Times (http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2014/07/where_was_alabama_am_picked_to.html#incart_river)
BIRMINGHAM, Alabama - Alabama A&M coach James Spady said he didn't know he'd have a chance to say anything as he sat with other coaches to begin SWAC Media Day at the Birmingham Marriott.

But just before he was handed the microphone, he was given all the material he needed as the preseason All-SWAC Football Team and the forecast league order of finish were unveiled.

What motivated SWAC to move its football title game to Houston? The commissioner explains..................Huntsville Times (http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2014/07/what_motivated_swac_to_move_it.html#incart_river)
BIRMINGHAM, Alabama - Southwestern Athletic Conference Commissioner Duer Sharp said today Birmingham's inability to "control the controllable" was a key factor in the SWAC moving its football championship game to Houston.

The conference held its football Media Day at the Birmingham Marriott and representatives of the 10 member schools met with an eye toward the title game again being at NRG Stadium.

Asked what Birmingham could have done to keep title contest between the East and West division champs, Sharp said there was little else the city could have done.
