Anyone else watching this game? Very entertaining so far. Jacksonville State just tied it up on a fake field goal.

Most of the OVC talk I've seen on this board seems to revolve around Eastern Illinois and Tennessee-Martin, but on paper, at least, TN St. (2-0) and Jax St. (3-1) are very much in contention for the conference title. OVC fans, what can you tell us about these two teams? Is either a legit contender in the conference?

(Wow, exciting game here--two more big plays happen before I have a chance to finish posting about the first!)

TSU doesn't do anything after an INT, but downs its punt inside the one. 6:42 to go, TSU up 38-31.

Sorry I couldn't answer your questions last night, UMass 922, I was across town at the stadium doing way too much angry shouting.

Before this game, yes, both teams were legitimate contenders. After the game, JSU looks to be out of it, though they could still win the title, mathematically speaking.

People need to wake up to TSU, on the other hand. You're right in pointing out that everyone's been talking about Martin and EIU and ignoring the other contenders. The Tigers are very much in this race right now. Javarris Williams is weapon #1, but as JSU helped prove, you can stop him and still leave TSU with plenty of threats. Their defense was good enough to hold Clay Green under 100 yards yesterday, and Heffner is a great clutch quarterback. Who wins the OVC is really anybody's guess, right now.

The picture could become very clear, very quick. EIU's next two games are at UT-Martin, then vs. Tennessee State.

If EIU wins both of those, and Martin and TSU both lose some more, and EIU loses to Tennessee Tech, JSU gets a shot at a season finale winner-take-all showdown with the Panthers.

So as you can see, instead of a JSU playoff game Nov. 25, I'm planning that day on watching the Minutemen's visit to Jax State for some early-season roundball. (Sigh.)

Hey unknown-swac, you're obviously loser in real life from the looks of your signature. Can we keep the POLITICS out of this site. This is a sports site.
