this "roadwarrior" hasn't missed a Bison FB game since 81

http://www.in-forum.com/articles/index.cfm?id=142050

excerpt below
STATESBORO, Ga. – Bob Clark hasn’t lived in Fargo since 1991. He hasn’t missed a North Dakota State football game since 1981.

Yet at some point, getting to the games of his alma mater – the54-year-old is from the class of 1975 – became a priority.

Chasing a college football team around the country was easier before the Bison chose to jump to the NCAA Division I-AA level.

Clark, a computer programmer based in the Twin Cities, was in favor of the move; in fact, he thought it should have happened 20 years earlier. But it has made following his team “kind of a challenge.”

According to NDSU senior associate athletic director for development Erv Inniger, fewer than 10 people will see all 11 Bison football games this season.

When Clark’s string began in 1982 – today’s contest at Georgia Southern will be No. 289 in a row – he was part of a group of seven self-proclaimed Road Warriors who attended every game.

But most of those trips were regional and made by car. When NDSU was in the North Central Conference, the longest trip was 930 miles one-way, to Greeley, Colo. And following a 1987 contest at Northern Michigan, the Bison didn’t play a regular-season nonconference game away from home until 2002.

In its first three seasons since leaving the Division II league, NDSU’s average road trip will be 1,187 miles. Included are the program’s inaugural trips to Georgia and Louisiana, plus its first venture to Texas since 1985.

This fall, the Bison will travel more than 7,045 miles – or 1,500 more than in 2004, their first season out of the NCC. That’s a one-way total and doesn’t include the fact that the team is rarely able to fly directly to its destination.

we were the attendance kings for many years in DII so we "bought" alot of home games vs fellow DIIs

we even "bought" a home game vs Maine as a DII which was called off due to 9/11

Very impressive...

Glad to have NDSU aboard. NDSU and UCA have really impressed me as I-AA programs since they've moved up...

Hopefully McNeese and NDSU can play soon :)

CBuck, the moderator of the GeauxCowboys site, hasn't missed a game since the mid 70's, I think...

He and Superfan can sit together ;)

Should probably start a different thread, all Bison fans are not critical of Montana's schedule. This thread is suppose to be dedicated to a great Bison fan.

Maybe the Mods can move these post on the Montana schedule. xeyebrowx

Nope, Big difference. Our games were "bought" with the other team knowing there would be no return trip. We didn't buyout the return trips. Big difference xnonox

With 9 conference games, that only left room for 1 non-conference opponent until 1995. Most of our openers where agains team that were usally in the running for the D-II playoffs.

Let's see Elk. I know the ULL game was 351 consecutive games and we've played three since then, so The Streak is at 354 consecutive McNeese games attended both home and away.

Didn't it say that he is 54 and graduated in 1975? ? I graduated from MSU in 1976 and I am 58 now- I graduated from high school in 1972 and made it through in four years. Did he graduate from high school at 13 or 14? This story has me confused.

Regardless- it is really cool that he has seen this many games. That is quite an accomplishment. xthumbsupx

I am pretty sure there was an article done late 2011 or early this year (prior to the game in Frisco) but could not find that article. Next best thing was to resurrect this thread and just update the game count.

Still waiting for pictures that were taken during tailgate yesterday. Will post when they become available.

Lakes come on. Over 3000 staches were given away. Many more people brought there own. It has nothing to do with the team up north. But it has everything to do with having some some fun with a great coach from SIU. The power of his stache was neutralized.xnodx

Reminds me of the guy in a Wall Street Journal article (true!) who would visit every new McDonalds (back when they were opening a lot in the 90s) that opened that year! AND, no joke, he would have to buy something at every one. Of course, the article noted he bought a lot of the boxed chocolate chip cookies and gave them away. He would get the development list from someone who was in the McDs organization and would - seriously - use vacation time from work (he had quite a few weeks) to do this and plot out the route. It was an amazing read!! Apparently, he had no connection to McDs at all!
