Does anyone know? Can the person with knowledge provide anything published by a school or the NCAA that verifies what is being said?

Yes, they were already a D1 school when they started the program, so there is no transition to D1 from a lower division. It's the same as Old Dominion and Georgia State and what will happen in a short time with East Tennessee State.

And HBU? HBU was already DI, but is playing an exhibition schedule.

Yes. Only Incarnate Word and Abilene Christian are going through an actual transition.

And even Abilene and UIW are shown as D1 on the NCAA site, but I've found conflicting info on whether they count as D1 status this season.

Yes they were already D1

just like our first year we just added football to our NCAA sports
