Coinciding with the first release of the BCS standings Jeff Sagarin released a modified version of his computer rankings (http://www.usatoday.com/sports/ncaaf/sagarin/2013/team/) that the BCS will be using this season called Pure ELO. Here's the national top 25 using those rankings.

3. Missouri
4. Bethune-Cookman
5. Oregon
6. Northern Illinois
7. Fordham
8. Oregon State
9. Virginia Tech
10. Coastal Carolina
11. Ohio State
12. North Dakota State
13. Auburn

17. Clemson
18. Baylor
19. Stanford

21. Lehigh

What a great system the BCS is/was, huh?

Heh, that FL State loss just shot BCU's SOS way up, combined with them doing very well in their other games, it's thrown the computer for a loop.

In PURE_ELO, only winning and losing matters; the score margin is of no consequence,
which makes it very good at retro-fitting the W-L results.

I can see how this benefits Lehigh, because their only loss is to undefeated Fordham and they get credit for a good win against Princeton (who is 4-1, and No. 56 in the PURE_ELO).

So it uses the same logic as the computer that had Notre Dame #1 at the end of last season. xlolx

Last year of the BCS...

I think Sagarin is fed up with the system and is doing what that Jet Blue flight attendant did. Next up he will pull the emergency slide and grab a couple beers.
