Mr. C
October 12th, 2013, 11:04 AM
We are a few minutes from game time for the Albany-Delaware football game at Delaware Stadium and Tubby Raymond Field. Temperatures are in the mid-60s and though it has been cloudy, it doesn't seem like rain is likely anytime soon. This is a huge game for Delaware, coming off its 62-28 loss at Maine last week. The stands are slowly filling up a bit, but it will be interesting to see how many of the Blue Hen faithful make the trip today. Delaware is 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the CAA, while Albany is 1-5 and 0-2 in its first-year transition to the CAA.

This will be an interesting game for me in another sense. It will likely be the final time I get to watch a Bob Ford-coached team at Albany, considering this 75-year-old coaching icon will be retiring after the season.

Last play of the half was baffling, why not go for the easy 3?

This game is closer than it should be. Delaware has been dominating on both sides of the ball since the poor early series. Some unfortunate penalties and a great fake punt from Albany have kept them in the game.

Keep an eye on Ngachie at LB Dave. He's phenomenal IMO. True Frosh.

Mr. C
October 12th, 2013, 12:56 PM
Have to wonder about the decision to go for a TD and not kick a field goal that would have made it a two-possession game for Delaware at the end of the half. To use a baseball analogy, it seemed like a Don Mattingly-type decision for those who have been watching the Los Angeles Dodgers in the playoffs.

I would have gone for a field goal to make it a 9-point lead. Might come back to haunt Dave Brock.

Mr. C
October 12th, 2013, 12:57 PM

I really wasn't expecting Albany to hang around in this game today. It has been a gutsy performance by the Great Danes against one of the powerhouse programs in FCS. But then, we've seen this movie before hear at the Tub.

Delaware is stealing Wisconsin's Jump Around song between periods. I'd rather see the toast toss at Franklin Field.

Perfect read by Prosper Mbongue-Muna, who sheds a block and ruins a reverse to Jones for a loss at the UA 45.

Another Tarkenton scramble for Hurley, who has to throw it away. 4th down and punt time for the Blue Hens.
