COLUMBIA - Marc Buoniconti wanted so desperately to reconnect with The Citadel after 20 years, he never stopped to think his old teammates needed healing, too.
So Buoniconti, paralyzed playing linebacker for The Citadel during a 1985 game, is grateful more than two decades of bad feelings and longing will end Saturday for himself and the players around him when his No. 59 jersey is retired by the school.
