How or why is the SoCon still ranked ahead of the Big South?

They are 6 - 1 vs the SoCon this year, and 14-5 versus the rest of FCS.

The difference is very slim, 3 hundredths of a point.
Separation probably occurs due to the following factors.
Southern - Offense #6, Defense #5, SOS #6
Big South - #8, #7, #9

How does it look when you remove SoCon teams that are ineligible for the playoffs? Guessing GSU would favor the SoCon and ASU would be a liability. GSU's SoS is poor except for their lone loss. Same could be said for my team, BTW.
