Are they on crack over there???

Why is San Diego ahead of Albany in votes in the top 25? Didn't they just beat #19 UD?

And yes how is CCSU not #1 in mid-major? They best Georgia Southern! San Diego just beat 2006 YALE... not 1896 Yale!

Eh... as I see it, Pards win one or two and they are back in... Penn is very good.. they might sneak in there as well.

Does Maine have 19 or 7 or 26 points?

Also, gotta say that Albany got the royal shaft in this poll......only #40 with 35 points while Delaware only slips to #18.....and even worse, Montana State still with 99 points? : smh :

So Montana St. is just better than Brown... whatever.. zero points vs. ranked I-AA plus loss to D2 = no rank... Colorado is just baaaaaaaaaad...

I am in disbelieve with the lack of respect Albany got...but I'm sure it has to be because of the Fordham game and the fact that Fordham ***** the bed against Columbia.

The nice thing is, you have made your mark this year. If you keep winning you will move up...unless people are sleeping.

Personally, I actually like this poll more then the AGS right now. I think they've got Hampton too high, and on my (unofficial) 25 I don't have Towson and CCSU (although I don't really have a problem with them being on there). Usually I like AGS more, but this time the SN is more in line with what I'm thinking. I think the AGS has Furman at like 7 or sumthin'. After what I've seen, I'd almost have em at number 2, followed by ASU and Cal Poly. I put em at 3, but it was tough.

Dane, I hear you. CCSU is still ranked below GSU!?!? GSU bounced back with a win over Coastal, but ...

I'm sure UA fans are rooting for a Hens win in Rhody though :smiley_wi

---
However, I'm not going to bitch about rankings too much. Right now I am just going to be happy we are ranked in the top 25. :hurray: :hurray: Its a first for CCSU and the entire NEC. I'll take it one step at a time. NEC fans let's enjoy this moment and look to improve!

I'd also note Colgate is recieving votes and will face Monmouth (3-0) who has strong wins over Fordham and Morgan State! If the Hawks can knock off 'Gate and the CCSU/UA game goes down to the wire, we could have 3 teams gettting votes. Almost unreal to even comprehend!

Here's a link to CCSU's official press release (it also mentions the AGS poll):

BTW - Justise Hariston's 241 yrds rushing over Southern Connecticut is the best single game rushing in I-AA so far this season. He also lead I-AA in all-purpose yards per game!

Respect is earned. Right now, Albany is on a yo-yo and this week is on the downside. You want respect, take care of CCSU. You are not better than San Diego right now, let alone most of the heavies of I-AA.

Take a look at where the heavies are and see how they got there. See how Davis got to where they are right now. Heck, see how San Diego got to where they are. Don't play your easy NEC schedule then say you want respect from me, someone whose team is fighting stacked odds by playing three I-A teams and also the strong Big Sky conference. Why should you get in over Portland State with two I-A losses, a I-A win and one or two Big Sky losses? Because you beat Delaware on the road? Yeah, right.

man, all i know is whoever runs the selection committee or automatic qualifiers better get their heads out their you know whats when it comes to the NEC...

I like to say the NEC is like the Mountain West of D I-AA right now. No one really cares to think about us, but we are coming to kill you! lol

Cause we just beat a full-scholarship team while we have 1/4 of our team on "financial aid". THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE THEIR BUCKO!

Smile, OVC fans. Even after two of the "big three" lost close games to tough opponents, we've now got three teams in the SNW top 25: EIU #20, EKU #24, JSU #25. Plus, Tennessee State is getting votes.

All three of the ranked teams have good chances to climb the ladder next week. EIU is at Samford, JSU goes to UT-Martin, and EKU plays at Tennessee Tech Thursday night. Tennessee State, meanwhile, heads accross town to Vandy.

And I'm supposed to respect you? OK, you play the Robert Morris' and the St Francis of Assisi (oops, I mean Pennsylvania) while week end and week out we're playing the Montana's and Montana State's of the world. Sheesh!!!

Pretty simple actually, SanDiego is 3-0. Albany is 2-1. If the #1 team doesn't lose, they are still #1.

Happened to Drake in 2004. Lost 2 of the first three, then ran the table. Still was #2 in the polls...

If SanDiego and Albany play in the Gridiron, then the #1 team will be set.

Since the start of the 2004 season, all 12 teams in the Atlantic 10 Football Conference have been ranked in The Sports Network poll.

I find this very impressive.

Yes, but those two San Diego wins are against D2 teams... Albany beat Lehigh and a top 25 team.. no contest who is number one in my mind... well, change that.. b/w CCSU and Albany..

Well considering how many teams from the conference have been able to go to the playoffs relatively recently, I guess it is not too surprising. It is not like some other conferences, where you know every year who will be the bottom feeders and who will come out on top. I like the balance and the interest it allows for all the programs, including rankings in the top 25. I mean there are 6 A10 teams ranked right now...

Dont act like San Diego is new to getting votes in the polls, last year San Diego got votes in every major poll and I didnt see Albany or CCSU get any votes. I guess when you barely squeak by a D2 school like Southern Con. you start getting some confidence. San Diego has the a 11 game winning streak and they have lost 2 conference games in the past 3 years!

These polls are just something to argue about and don't mean much expecially at this point in the season. UD could run the table the rest of the way. CCSU could go undefeated. Who knows??? The upsets will come in bunches as they always do and that is part of what makes 1AA so much fun.

UNH is definately #1 as far as I can tell until somebody beats them.
