Wood lettered as the team's punter in 2012 and served as the squad's third-string quarterback. He averaged 38.5 yards pm 42 punts with 21 being pinned inside the 20 and three going at least 50 yards, including a career-long 60-yarder at Harvard. He pinned four of his six kicks inside the 20 at Brown and four of his five while averaging 41.0 yards per punt against Penn. Wood completed his first career pass, a 21-yarder against Bucknell. Wood was well on his way to a fantastic freshman season as the team's starting punter and a backup quarterback before injury sacked his rookie campaign after just one game. He punted six times in the season-opening win over Bucknell, averaging 35.2 yards with a long of 47 yards. An excellent developmental quarterback behind Jeff Mathews, Wood will have a chance to compete for the backup spot and eventually become the Cornell signal-caller.

At Fletcher HS
An all-district selection as a senior at Fletcher HS, he was a two-star prospect by scouting service Rivals.com. A two-year team captain, Wood led his team to the state playoffs as a senior en route to earning all-conference accolades. He passed for more than 4,300 career yards, including more than 1,500 yards as a senior. Wood was named the North team's MVP at the 22nd annual Shrine Bowl All-Star game, passing for two touchdowns and running for another. Wood played at Stanton College Preparatory HS as a junior. He was a three-sport athlete, also competing in basketball and track and field.
