Could you post your school's all-time win-loss record? If you have a link to a media guide that would be a bonus (I don't have absolute confidence in wikipedia for this.)

I am sure I am not the only one who knows of these sites, but for the most comprehensive, all in one site on all team records see the following:

http://www.cfbdatawarehouse.com/data/div_iaa_team_index.php

or

http://michigan-football.com/ncaa/ncaa_1aa.htm

I like them both depending on the info I am trying to get. Can't be certain of their accuracy, but I have never seen any errors. The first Includes all Divisions. It also has records for every opponent, scores, dates, on every single game ever played.

The second site is good as well, but it does not show home and away, just socres for every year since 1945.

If you have never seen these sites, enjoy!

I love those sites, but I'm not 100% confident of the all-time wins at the Warehouse - it looks like it counts club games and exhibitions. Example: Nebraska says they have 856 wins but the Warehouse says 866 because Nebraska doesn't count the games against Lincoln HS. More importantly, it looks like they have NDSU's W-L-T wrong. :)

Yup, the Appalachian State record is wrong at CFDW and when I emailed the dude at the site he said he wasn't going to be changing anything..so meh. Take it with a grain of salt. I go by the media guides from the respective college when looking up info.

Granted, but for game by game scores and recent records they are great. From the remarks by some people, there are obviously errors, but when you start looking at games from over a century ago, does it really matter? The Citadel played a few games against the "Charleston Naval District" or "Paris Island" back in the day. I am not sure if we count those or not.

Since the 1978 split for App:

Overall Record
282-141-4 (.665) 35 Seasons

SoCon Record
200-83-5 (.703) 41 Seasons

Although the SoCon wasn't forced down to I-AA until 1982..but I'm not working on all that. xlolx

The Citadel played a few games against the "Charleston Naval District" or "Paris Island" back in the day. I am not sure if we count those or not.

Probably they would. Why not? A win is a win and a loss is a loss regardless. App played some high schools and Camp Davis, Langley Field, etc., back in the 30s. Won some and lost. As long as it's all counted.

It is interesting to look back at some of the opponents we played. In 1905 we only played some high schools and USC. Our 1906 season featured only three games. We went 3-0. We beat Mercer, College of Charleston and a local HS. It is interesting that once Mercer starts playing again they will be our oldest series opponent other than USC.

That's better than UNC.

They played the NC School for the Deaf and Dumb.

That said, back in those early days, it was a much more informal affair, and football was pretty much a club sport. Mostly colleges, but organizations (like the Y) and military bases also fielded teams.

Any college that was playing football prior to 1920 was playing the occasional high school, trade school, YMCA or military team.

Damn!!! UND has had 10 losing seasons in the last 50. Shows how powerful UND and NDSU were in the NCC if one of us didn't win the conference it was the other. Three is very impressive at any level.

As opposed to Richmond...the only time in the last 50 seasons that we had 3 winning seasons in a row was 2005-2010 56-22

I'd like someone to find their record in 1-AA/FCS.

Significant accomplishment considering we had an overall losing record when I arrived on campus in 1970.

Don't know if your 1AA question was answered but I'm coming up with 245-139-4 (.616) since moving up from D2 for '78 season (after winning '77 D2 NC with 3 road wins). That 1AA record includes going 6-9 in play-offs. Regular season only is .646. Not too shabby given the uneven playing field vs much of the competition.

Not for nothing, BUT, the fact that Engineers/Hawks have won 6 of 9 first round games, incl recent road wins at N Ill & Towson (and at Richmond & W Ill a little further back), just adds to the royal screw'n the selection committee laid on them in 2012. There ought to be an investigation (and Joe needs to bump the OOC schedule up a notch).

866-349-55

138 years

Now that's weird, Yale was the third team I tried to get right. I found a media guide for 2009 that said the record was 853-332-55. Adding in the 2009-2012 seasons, I got 871-354-55. I show one more win than that (and Wiki agrees with the media guide.) Bah, now I have to figure out where the one extra game is.

Edit: figured it out. Pennsylvania forfeited a game in 1997. Yale doesn't count it as a win or loss. Sometimes Wiki counts it as a win, sometimes they ignore it. College Football Data Warehouse counts it as a win for Yale and so will I.

I'm just getting to UND, Darrell. Funny thing is that the media guide shows 604-360-39 in one place. Do you have a hard copy? I'm looking here: http://www.undsports.com/pdf8/926484.pdf?DB_OEM_ID=13500

Also, on Page 179, it says that UND went 4-3 in 1946 but on page 181, where it lists the individual games, it is showing that UND went 5-3 that year. What are you seeing for 1946?

If 1946 has 4 wins, then 617-375-30 is right... but UND might have another win.

Noticed in passing: St. Thomas (PA) is now the University of Scranton, and UND's record against Morningside appears to be overstated by two wins.

Honestly, looking at media guides makes me wonder if folks have heard of Excel.

Colgate and Holy Cross are the really the only two teams to give Lehigh trouble over the last 15 years. Lafayette, at times, has too. Lehigh's ability to dominate Bucknell, Fordham and Georgetown has kept them in the league race almost every season.

Lehigh has never been truly "bad" in the PL era. The stretch a few years ago is as bad as it's been and even then the Hawks were fairly competitive. Everyone else has bottomed out at some point, especially Colgate and Holy Cross. I'm not sure if Lafayette's bad ever matched those two
