Flames Head Football Coach Turner Gill has announced that former Virginia running back Clifton Richardson will transfer to Liberty. Richardson has two years of athletic eligibility remaining and will be able to compete during the 2013 season.
"We are thrilled to have Clifton in our football program because of his character and his football ability," commented Gill about his newest running back. "He has tremendous power, above average elusiveness and outstanding speed as a running back."

Liberty has been the dumping grounds for ex- UVA players for years. If you have ability but no brains,Liberty will take you.Let us not forget the Asa Chapman chapter(many others). It is a shame the demands Liberty asks of its non athletes, but will let trash play football and not abide by the Falwell dream. Will Sims follow??????

Again, London said that Richardson left UVA in good academic standing. We have no reason to believe he's in any other trouble. I think he just saw the writing on the wall with the RB recruit UVA landed.

Here's a great article on the transfer: http://www.dailyprogress.com/cavalierinsider/football/former-virginia-rb-richardson-transfers-to-liberty/article_ef2f5824-cd62-11e2-b416-001a4bcf6878.html
LYNCHBURG — Liberty football coach Turner Gill announced Tuesday that former University of Virginia running back Clifton Richardson is transferring to Liberty.
“I’m thrilled,” Gill said in a phone interview. “Thrilled, excited and [it’s] great to have a player of his caliber to help us improve as a football team.”
Richardson is the second running back in the past decade to transfer from a Football Bowl Subdivision school to Liberty.
Rashad Jennings transferred from Pittsburgh and played for three seasons with the Flames. Jennings is currently on the Oakland Raiders' roster.

And even though this guy missed the fact that Aldrekis Allen is no longer in the LU program, there is an interesting list of schools in this article: http://www.dailypress.com/sports/colleges/acc-all-access-blog/dp-spt-acc-all-access-menchville-high-graduate-clifton-richardson-talks-about-his-transfer-from-virginia-to-20130604,0,2066537.post

Richardson, a 6-foot-0, 210-pound running back who announced 2½ weeks ago he was transferring from U.Va., said he plans to enroll Monday in summer classes at Liberty. In addition to Liberty, he said he looked at Old Dominion, Richmond, North Dakota State and Wisconsin.

He said Marshall showed a lot of interest in him, but even though he has a redshirt year available, he decided he wasn’t interested in transferring to another Bowl Subdivision school and having to sit out a season under NCAA transfer rules.
