Former Bison Safety and eventual Defensive Coordinator/Associate Head Coach Gus Bradley was just named head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Bradley was the fan and media favorite to take over the Bison when Bob Babich left to join Lovie Smith's staff for the St Louis Rams in 2002. It came down to Bradley and Bohl and AD Gene Taylor chose Bohl. Bradley stayed on staff as the defensive coordinator before being hired by Layne Kiffen to the Tampa Bay Bucs.

Full details on his path from NDSU to NFL Head Coach is here---- http://www.kfgo.com/on-air-details.php?ID=1847

Personally with Bradley or Bohl, Gene couldn't go wrong and the success of both has proven so since.

Also you want the secret to the NDSU defense? Its as simple as this video! The Bison defense does it better then anyone else. http://youtu.be/ofv2MgMoFG8

I wish Gus the best of luck, I think he is going to need it with Jacksonville. That ownership and organization just doesn't seem to make the best football decisions IMO. Really was hoping he would get the Philly job!

Silly ESPN just said he won an FCS championship in the 80's.

Interesting.

That's two coaching hires in 72 hours with ties to the F-M area. Trestman played QB at Minnesota State-Moorhead.

The current owner of the Jags, Shahid Khan, has only owned the team for a year. Not nearly enough time to judge his decision making yet.

Yeah, I just read that, new GM too. Maybe they are on the right path afterall, time will tell. Good luck to Gus he deserves everything he has worked so hard for and is just a great person too.

Isn't the team on the verge of moving to Los Angeles?

Gus was actually hired by Monte Kiffen/Jon Gruden at Tampa Bay, not Lane. Monte called Gus about a different coach he wanted to hire and Gus impressed him so much that he decided to hire him and the rest is history.

God bless Gus for taking the Jacksonville job... high risk, high reward kind of thing, but those are the kind of opportunities that teach you the most. It's always good to see former FCS talent/coaching be recognized at the highest level!

And I guess I'm selfishly hoping the Jaguars can be successful, SOMETHING has to light the fire underneath the Texans' complacent butts...

Isn't the team on the verge of moving to Los Angeles?

Considering the Jags were 20th in attendance in 2012 with a 2-14 record, I think not.

Ignore ESPN, the Jags stadium seats 67K with tarps, without them, there would only be a few stadiums bigger in the NFL. When FSU and Alabama played there a few years ago, the attendance was 84K.

The stadium was rebuilt in the 90s and kept the large number of seats for the Fla/Ga game each year. The Jags have always been around 10th to 20th in attendance each year, and haven't had a blackout in 3 years.

But as a Jags fan, I am excited for Gus and hope he can get this team back into winning games again.

Hope the Jags can do well. If Gus can build a good defense, which he has a record of doing, they will be just fine.

Just watching his press conference inspires some hope, the guy seems to be a great leader.

I don't know it's that much of a stretch. He will probably give him a chance in training camp. Can't teach 6'7"

Bradley hires longtime Chicago Bears assistant Bob Babich as defensive coordinator. Babich was head coach at North Dakota State from 1997-2002.

They have already gone the extra mile by keeping him around after his knee injury. Now it will depend on his rehab. According to his dad the organization is great.
