Bethune-Cookman football coach Brian Jenkins will have an on-campus interview Thursday at Southern University, wrapping up what is now a three-person race to become the Jaguars’ next football coach.

Jenkins will be the third candidate to meet face-to-face with athletic director William Broussard, who confirmed the interview schedule Sunday night.

Nevada offensive tackles and tight ends coach James Spady is scheduled to interview Monday, and SU interim coach Dawson Odums will interview Tuesday.

Broussard has said he intends to present his final choice and recommendation to SU System Board of Supervisors at their meeting Friday.

If he's smart he's only using this as an attempt to get more money.

And what good would attempting to get more money do for him?

If SU is willing to throw so much money at Jenkins or whomever is hired. Why not try to go a little higher on the chain than Spady like a coordinator or someone who coaches more positions or asst head coach or something? But I doubt they'd be able to get those guys. They're probably hoping to wait til someone gets fired at a school from one of the bigger conferences. I'll give Spady and Odums a little credit for their background. Odums was an assistant on a title team.

You're not answering the question that was asked

Not more money from SU. More money from BCU. I just don't see the need to hop to another team. He has a team that was just in the playoffs. He needs to look at the bottom line and try to get a bigger paycheck or ask for more to get his team to the level he wants or just accept the SU job. If he does well, he will be offered a position in the MEAC again or maybe on an FCS staff. I just think it's crazy for any head coach to want to leave the MEAC for the SWAC. Now if he was just an assistant I could understand.

Clearly you don't know anything about either of these coaches background so it's understandable that you're confused about what's going on.

I actually read their bios and other information on them. I said I have to give them credit about some of the things on their resume once I read it. Maybe you missed that line. They have some nice stuff on there, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't throw out some bait near some even more impressive people to see if they bite.

But on the subject of the candidates, how good was GSU's offense when Spady was there? Can't really judge Odums from his time at SU because I'm thinking this was his first year, was it not?
