Ohio State will pay Youngstown St. $600,000 for their game! Lets hope that this trend continues. Nothing can benefit I-AA more than these large payouts as schools can bolster facilities etc.

Seems like these BCS teams have raised the bar.
So far the average for teams of OHIO State's caliber starts at $500,000.

Ain't Gram getting about $600,000 from Houston?
Asking?

I remember someone on here saying Gram was receiving $600,000 from a school in Texas.

Houston is who they play this year so I'm assuming it's them.
Could be for 2007................

I am just surprised Houston could pay that kind of money.

That is good news for all of I-AA.

It is kind of like when Tiger Woods exploded on the PGA Tour. There were some of the older golfers that resented the attention that Tiger was getting. Turns out it was the best thing that ever happen to the PGA. All that attention brought viewers which brought sponser which brought bigger pay outs to every golfer. Same thing with Danaca Patrick (sp) and the IRL.

Ga Tech may give you a chance, but I bet the payout won't matter.

I dont buy that one. UH paying 600k? They have been barking about what kind of financial condition their athletic program is in for years. They only paid us about 150k or 175k last year to come to their place.

I have been told that Univ of Texas is paying us 300k this year to come to Austin.

No way U of H is paying that much. They would lose money if they did that. Only way is if they are playing the game at the Texans place.

Don't fool yourself into thinking Montana's payout had anything to do with this. This was a gift to YSU from OSU. I'm pretty sure this will be the first time OSU has played a 1AA program.

That's why I'm thinking the big payday for them is in 2007.

Houston to me is like USM here in Mississippi.
They gonna pay $150,000 to $250,000 tops.

I think the Bearkats got in the $125,000-$175,000 range for their game against the Cougars last year...there were 1/2 as many Kats there was there were Cougars in the crowd...the largest non-Reliant Stadium home crowd of the year for the Cougars...

Two years, two I-AA games lead the attendance at Robertson...

125k to 175k is actually ALOT for a non-BCS payout.

No way. The UH athletic program was in serious jeopardy of being downsized very recently.

UT and A&M are the only two Texas schools who could even think of offering that much $$$.

YES, He likely is! Much like R.C. Slocum got Mcneese on the Texas a&m schedule a few years back since he is an alum.

250k was the ICON payout for the U of H game. The 27,302 was the largest home crowd for the U of H since 2001 (U of T). There is talk about a 3 year deal with the ICON. The pay out will be more in 2007. U of H wants to move the game to Reliant in 2007.

That is fantastic for YSU! Some people were bitching on the Northwestern board that they got their ass kicked by UNH, and had to pay $400K for the privilege. Others said they thought it was only $300K, as if that made it easier to take.

I think it is great and the Ohio State payout should only keep the money up! GSU should demand more from Georgia and they can use Iowa and Ohio State for their argument. With increased coffers, I-AA programs will be able to upgrade and this can oly make the division better.

It could have been a gift from Tressell but now I-AA schools can look at BCS teams and throw these payouts at them and at least raise the bar. They may not get $850k or $650k but if it goes up to $300k+ from $100k+ than all is good.

What makes this even more aggravating is that other schools are supposedly getting almost twice as much to play them.

Some teams have to take what they can get. Others can demand more.
