One of the Ivy League schools should win this contest hands down. Because of their academic requirements their recruiting base is a lot more expansive then just about every school minus the academies. The Patriot League schools will probably have the second most diverse rosters for the same reasons.

That is true. Another big reason we do not recruit outside the state of California is so we do not have to pay out of state tuition.

So far Montana, UNH and UD are the ones with at least one non-US player, well Canada does not really count as foreign so only UD... lol

And I'm guessing that a pretty fair number of those NH kids are freshman walk-ons.

Wow, as many kids from Cali as CT!!!! Almost as many as from PA and NY!! I guess we better be figuring out a way to afford home and home series with either UC-Davis, Cal-Poly or Sac State!!

Pretty amazing how much UNH has to depend on out-of-state kids and other schools rely almost completely on in-state kids!!

MSU had a great Norwegian kicker in the 60's. Jan Stenerud. Pro football Hall of Famer. He was the reason they moved the kickoff point to the 35 as he boomed the kick offs though the end zone every time. LOL.

Interesting link. I remember him from the NFL but did not realize he was Norwegian. How many people went to college on a ski jumping scholarship and ended up being a college footbll player and later NFL Hall of Famer? lol, gotta be only one ....

McNeese is VERY "home grown" if you look at it in terms of how far the home towns of players are from Lake Charles. Back in 2003, when one of the "takes" on Florida Atlantic was how they got all their players from a small area I compared the average distance between their school and players home towns to the same thing for McNeese and McNeese's players were from a smaller average distance.

Doing the State thing with McNeese doesn't really capture it because they're about 30 miles from the Texas border. Lake Charles is about 134 miles east of Houston and about 125 miles west of Baton Rouge, so it's really kind of in "Texiana" when it comes to recruiting.

I like that. However good or bad McNeese does, the players really do overwhelmingly represent the area the school is in.

States are generally smaller in the east, so if someone comes to UD from MD, PA (except for western PA), NJ or DE it is likely they would be called "local" for a school in the west or midwest....

Not that I've examined things close enough to remember, but does any team other than EKU have more players from another state than it does from its own? I'm sure a few do, but it's not all that common at the I-AA level.
