Appalachian State at Georgia Southern, Mr. C's Official Game Thread

Appalachian State practiced indoors in Boone, N.C. this week as its prepared for Georgia Southern in the midst of Hurricane Sandy's fury that dumped plenty of snow in the High Country. Today, however, the Mountaineers are being greeted by nice, warm sunshine (and probably a few sand gnats) as they get ready for a showdown between the two most prominent programs in the Southern Conference. Temperatures are suppose to be near 80 degrees.

Georgia Southern can wrap up its second straight Southern Conference title with a victory, while Appalachian State still has a shot at a share of the title and the league's automatic bid. The Mountaineers are also trying to win to stay off the bubble for an NCAA playoff berth.

Everything you need to make one of the greatest rivalries in FCS even better.

We are 20 minutes away from kickoff on a beautiful day at Paulson Stadium, which is always one of my favorite FCS venues. The band is moving into position and we're getting near to the opening kickoff.

The folks at Georgia Southern are some of the best hosts in FCS. I was just given an autographed copy of ex-Georgia Southern running back Adrian Peterson's autobiography. Should be a great read. AP is one of my all-time favorite FCS players.

The Georgia Southern band just performed the national anthem. Six minutes left on the pre-game clock as the crowd streams in from the tailgating areas. Captains are coming into the stadium and the fans are booing the ASU captains.

Baner kicked a 40 yard FG to send it to OT - Towson scored on first possession and it was way to easy, the Delaware D was tired though, Delaware got the ball and someone forget to tell Keeler he was allowed to play for a first down, they had 4 incomplete passing plays and all of them were down near the 5.... small crowd as well

App's offense is good, Sean Price is a player, scary good for a freshman.

This is a very young App team that is also banged up. If they beat Furman and get two weeks off they may be able to make a run to the semi's which would exceed my preseason expectations.
