Ugh. With each passing week I have lost more faith in the Ivy's competitiveness and the Presidents' indifference to us fans and coaches. I think this year will probably be my last year to host predictions... what do you think?

Anyway, this is the first of five all-Ivy weeks to end the season.

Penn at Yale
Cornell at Brown
Harvard at Princeton - this is going to be THE game that will decide the Ivy race.
Dartmouth at Columbia

It depends on how one defines "competitiveness." The answer to that depends on one's recognition of why Ivy League members have football teams. Ivy is just as competitive as it has been in the past 50 years within its realm and against its traditional OOC opponents. I'm not sure what it is that you might find lacking.

As one who attended a Patriot League school as an undergraduate and an Ivy League school as a graduate (my football allegiance remains with the Patriot), I continue to enjoy Ivy games, I remain as interested in the competition for the Ivy title as always, and I give credit to the presidents for providing and maintaining traditional college football in the northeast. Most important, Ivy football provides a vehicle for dedicated student-athletes to gain a unique education while participating in the game that they love.

Could Ivy ramp up and play FBS-style football? Sure, in a heartbeat. Ivy certainly has the resources. But the presidents' decision not to do so really should not be regarded as a lack of "support" or "interest" generally in the game. Certainly it could be improved - with FCS playoff participation and maybe some with some more attention to fan friendliness at some of the schools.

Everyone appreciates your weekly prediction thread. I hope you'll continue. We'll always be here to pick the games and offer our armchair rationale.

And one more thing - Penn sux, of course.

As much as I bemoan IL insularity, I enjoy our games and hope they continue. Unlike Bogie , I find the innate hypocrisy of IL ban on post season play annoying. Ifear as PL improves over next 5-6 yrs, IL will become even more insular and less connected to FCS. It will be a loss for both.
Well, I will continue to follow IL amd hope for the best.

Ivy should participate in the FCS playoffs - absolutely.

With an 11-point spread, I'll take Princeton and the points. I say Harvard wins by7-9 points. 24-17 sounds about right.

Momentum is a funny thing in football. Harvard lost it and couldn't get it back. One thing I will say, I would hate to be Dartmouth next week.
