McNeese Cowboys to be featured on national 1-AA radio series this season

Cowboys game with Nicholls State could be heard by millions

July 24, 2006

McNeese State's Cowboys will be featured on a 1-AA national football radio game of the week this coming season.

The Cowboys' November 18 home game with Nicholls State will be heard on the Sports Byline Radio Network and on Sirius Satellite Radio (channel 122).

It's one of 11 games and the only Southland Conference game that will be carried nationally.

Among the other games on the national network will be the Western Kentucky - Eastern Kentucky game on Sept. 9, the Coastal Carolina-Georgia Southern game on Sept. 16, the James Madison-VMI game Sept. 30, the Southern Illinois-Youngstown State game on Nov. 4 and the James Madison-Villanova game on Nov. 11.

This is the first ever nationally syndicated 1-AA college football radio series. The potential listening audience is expected to be in the millions. Replays of each week's game will also be available by Podcast on Sports Byline's website at www.sportsbyline.com.

The series will be produced by David Brody, president of Broadcaster Marketing Services of Birmingham, AL, and Frank Santore, who will handle the play by play.

Any word on other games? Last year Sirius carried a couple of the Richmond games. Sirius has a contract with UR so hopefully we can get some more on there.
