The Hoyas are making their first-ever national television appearance, and Princeton is coming off a near-upset loss to top-15 ranked Lehigh.

ESPNU's coverage of the game will begin at 7:00 p.m., with Joe Beninati handling the play-by-play and Rene Ingoglia providing analysis. Friday night's game can also be viewed on WatchESPN.com (http://espn.go.com/watchespn/index/_/id/560341/georgetown-vs-princeton), which is available to Time Warner, Verizon, Brighthouse and Comcast cable subscribers.

It is the first meeting since 1923.

Also, if anyone catches the broadcast, I hope you will see why many of us dub Princeton Stadium the best in FCS.

Bogie -- are you going to this game?

Excellent. Thanks for keeping me informed Pard. Thanks for posting the link as well. Got that set to go in it's window already and can't wait to see these guys go at it.

A bucolic experience. Agree the best in FCS. Go Hoyas.

Watching the game tonight interested to see how these two teams go at it.Lets see if Georgetown starts to pick up where they left off last year and Princeton starts the movement upward.

TD Princeton! Fake FG TD! 7-3. 5min fast game.

Mr. C is in the house, which is actually about 45 minutes from Mr. C's real house. Just getting caught up with other website stuff to be able to blog on this one.

Mr. C

Georgetown pretty much dominated to get the ball down the field on its first drive and then repeatedly shot itself in the foot. There were three key penalties that kept the Hoyas from the end zone on the first drive. Three and out this time for GU.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 06:28 PM
Shanked punt is going to give Princeton the ball at midfield. 19 yard punt.

Announcers said win would be Marquis for Princeton program. Obviously know nothing about tigers history and Georgetown football.

Mr. C

Princeton Stadium is one of my favorite venues to cover a game. Great facility, great press box. Love the food before, during and after the game. On the menu tonight was some of that terrific Princeton soup, chicken noodle this time. Also had herb-baked chicken, and some chicken parmigiana-like dish that melted in your mouth, along with ziti pasta in vodka sauce. They also had Caesar (not Szczur) Salad and the nice box lunches that everyone like to steal the cookies from.

Mr. C

Princeton is pulling out all stops in this one: fake field goal TD pass and now a fourth-down run for a first down. The Tigers are on the 17 with a third and short.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 06:34 PM
First Quarter Ends, Princeton 7, Georgetown 3. Quickly played period.

Mr. C

Maybe it wasn't a fluke that Princeton gave Lehigh a run last week, the Tigers look good on the attack. Third and goal at the two.

TD PU pushing Hoya down the field.

Mr. C

12 plays 50 yards 4:36 on the drive which ended with Will Powers first-ever TD. Princeton 14, Georgetown 3 with 13:38 left in the half.

Maybe it wasn't a fluke that Princeton gave Lehigh a run last week, the Tigers look good on the attack. Third and goal at the two.

I'm starting to think that as well. I gaurantee a Tiger victory over LC.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 06:43 PM
My last time seeing the Tigers in person was that dreadful Princeton-Columbia game last season. Princeton seems to be getting better.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 06:45 PM
Caraun Reid, Princeton's NFL prospect at DT, is getting a lot of attention from the Hoyas OL. 15-yard face mask penalty brings some life back to Georgetown's drive.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 06:46 PM
Reid ends a Georgetown drive by catching Hoya QB Aaron Aiken from behind.

Mr. C

I don't know if it is the National TV thing, or what, but Princeton seems to have an extra spark in its step tonight.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 06:50 PM
Princeton, as planned, has switched to Quinn Epperly at QB. Connor Michelson started at QB. Both are sophomores. Rough start for Epperly, with a fumbled snap on second down and huge blindside hit on third down. Punting time.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 06:53 PM
Princeton may have the cheapest season ticket package in FCS: $30 for five games. And you get free programs at the game.

Don't know if I would go that far yet. Lafayette has been better than expected too.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 06:55 PM
The word from the Princeton folks is that the "fake" field goal TD pass was really just a bad snap, which was what I thought when I saw the play live.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 06:56 PM
Georgetown is back on the move to the Princeton 35, but a third down and 9 is upcoming

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 06:57 PM
Georgetown completes a third down for a first down to the 21 on a play where Reid was getting his jersey almost ripped off. Should have been holding.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 06:59 PM
Nice blitz on second and 3 from the 14 to force an incompletion. PU took advantage of the double/triple team of Reid in the middle to shoot a gap with the ILB.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 07:00 PM
After a QB draw on third down is short, the Hoyas go for it on fourth and one and now the chains are on to measure.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 07:01 PM
GU picks up the first down by a half-a-ball length. First down at the 11.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 07:01 PM
Georgetown has seemed to struggle in the red zone tonight. Bad play on first down for two yards.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 07:02 PM
GU not on the same page on a second-down pass. Third and a long eight from the nine.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 07:03 PM
And now a false start on the Hoyas' TE on third down ... is negated by a fortuitous time out by GU.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 07:06 PM
For some reason, Georgetown threw short of the end zone on third down and the ball was knocked down on some good Princeton secondary defense. Field goal for the Hoyas makes it Princeton 14, Georgetown 6.

26-yard field goal (second of the night) for Matt Maczura.

15 plays, 62 yards, almost six minutes on another long drive that only nets three points.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 07:08 PM
Connor Michelson back in at QB for PU.

RichH2
September 21st, 2012, 07:08 PM
3rd string qb. Tough now. for Hoyas.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 07:09 PM
Bad snap when Michelson wasn't looking results in a TD for Georgetown as the RB and QB looked at each other in the end zone instead of falling on the ball for a safety.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 07:10 PM
All-American candidate cornerback Jeremy Moore is on the ball literally for the TD recovery.

Cool TD fumble recovery for Hoyas.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 07:11 PM
Blocked PAT by Caraun Reid almost results in a defensive two-point conversion for Princeton. The ball was taken back to the GU 35 before the tackle was made.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 07:12 PM
Princeton 14, Georgetown 12 with 3:30 left in the half and the game is on. Near kickoff return to the PU 41.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 07:13 PM
Personal foul by the Tigers ruins the long return.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 07:16 PM
Three and out for Princeton's offense as Georgetown's D looks reenergized.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 07:16 PM
Almost a pick-six for Princeton, but still an interception for Khamal Brown on a nice read of the out. PU ball at the GU 43 with a little over a minute left in the half. Brown fell down, or he would have waltzed in.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 07:18 PM
Fourth and two from the 35 for PU.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 07:19 PM
After taking a long time to get a new play from the sideline, Princeton is guilty of a false start. Punting time with 55 seconds remaining in the half. And a 10-second runoff by rulemakes it 45 seconds.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 07:21 PM
GU botches the punt return and it is PU's ball at the 17. 27 seconds left

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 07:22 PM
Bad throw on the slant. 2nd down from the 17. 23 seconds left.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 07:22 PM
Bad snap is recovered by PU at the 21. 17 seconds left on third down after a PU time out.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 07:24 PM
Sack on third down and a time out for PU with two seconds left. Fourth down from the 25 and a 42-yard FGA to follow from Nolan Bieck.

Mr. C
September 21st, 2012, 07:25 PM
42-yard FGA attempt goes barely wide right. Princeton 14, Georgetown 12 at the half.

All it takes is for the rest of the league to put H-Y-P (Harvard-Yale-Princeton) in its place and vote for what is best for the league. It would help if a few old presidents died off.

Mr. C- years ago I read some old book with a quote that I can't remember in it's entirety- maybe you or some other poster knows it and what it refers to- something like Princeton ?, Yale boy, Harvard man. I know that it has to do with the rivalry of the Big Three.

Speaking of old kickers- do you remember seeing a picture- it was two Ivy teams- where they actually made a pyramid to try to block the PAT? They passed a rule after that saying it was illegal. I think they tried it way back in 1966. It just looked crazy.

Actually a pretty good play by Princeton. A hook and ladder in the middle and a second lateral to the Princeton QB Connor Michelson, who threw back across the field to an open WR who made it to about midfield before being tackled. An illegal forward pass was called after a fumble on the play.

GU uneven talent some really good players spread around. The redt average but confidence makes a nig difference. And they did it with a 3 rd string qb with no game experience. It was fun. And I love us beating the Ivies.

Well, that was interesting. Just back from this game. Mostly socializing and didn't pay a lot of attention, except that the kid from Princeton can't kick worth a spit. Kind of a blundering, slow moving affair with lots of penalties and mistakes. And Bob Surace comes across as a rather violent man when you're siting behind him. I'm not sure that the kids like him very much.

Only good thing to come out of it - when I got back, I double checked and yes, I nailed the score dead on for this one in the pick 'em. I can't recall ever doing that before.

Both teams are beatable. Not easily, but both beatable.

Oh yeah - Princeton changed its helmets. That much I noticed.

Don't be too hard on the kicker. They were having trouble with long snapping on placements and punting all night. Much of the blame for the misses rest with the long snapper.

Just remember that GTown played with it's 2nd then 3rd string QB
Princeton MUCH better than Yale. Last night was close, last week Hoyas should have beat Yale 42 - 0. PU will be a much improved team and a much toughter out than Yale.

while 42-0 is certainly hyperbole hoyas should have beaten yale. we had our own problem with our kicker that game. If we convert a bit more in the Red zone that day we win.

I think we had a good showing on our first ever national tv appearance. It was full of mistakes but we won and it was an exciting back and forth game.

Hi hooligan. Hoyas are a tough squad. Not polished but playing with confidence. PU a number of very good players but not a good team. But to pull out game with 3rd string qb outstanding.

Disappointing loss for Princeton (20 out of last 22). A lot of penalties and mistakes, and the kicking game is uncharacteristically bad. Much work remains to be done, and I am not sure Surace is the man to do it. I think it is time for Verbit to go, too.

Suffice to say, then, that the Tiger's long snapper, holder and kicker all have to put in a little extra practice time this week.

Lots of credit in this one goes to Georgetown's third string QB for not getting rattled in the game and leading them down the field when it counted. Defensively, GU allowed 138 yards in the first two series and only 148 the rest of the game, 53 of it coming on one play.

Princeton is better than their record but the game at Columbia next week has to be considered a must-win.
