I know it is a longshot for them to beat Northern Illinois, but after beating Memphis last week they have a shot to make history.

I meant FBS wins...

I'm guessing you mean two FBS wins in a row? I'm not sure about in the same season, but there have been quite a few that had FBS winning streaks. Off the top of my head UNH had a 4 or 5 game streak before losing to Pitt two years ago.

ndsu had 2 in a season a few years ago, and are currently on a 2 win streak. I think new hampshire had a long streak at one point as well.

In 1990 YSU beat 3; EMU, Akron and Ohio.

One of the PL teams might have done it when the Ivy League was still 1-A.

Cal Poly beat San Diego State 2X in a row, 2006 and 2008.

Oh, sorry, misread the question.

NDSU beat Minnesota and Central Michigan in the same year.

They beat three 1-A teams and two D2 schools that year. Weird schedule for the 'Guins....

NDSU might make it three in a row tomorrow. Did the same already with Ball State-CMU-Minnesota in 06-07.

Eastern Washington has fair chance to to just that in back-to-back fbs games.
They beat Idaho 20 - 3 and now get to play Washington State.

I wanna say that he means two FBS wins in back-to-back weeks. Otherwise, this has happened tons of times. I don't think anyone's mentioned it yet, but I know both Central Michigan and Minnesota lost to NDSU in the same season a few years ago.

That same Youngstown State team finished the regular season 11-0 but lost in the first round of the playoffs. One of the biggest first round upsets of 1-AA playoff history, IMO.

Furman beat South Carolina, Georgia Tech, NC State, NC Stare and then tied Ga. Tech in a row so they had a 4 game winning streak and 5 game unbeaten streak. xthumbsupx

I think EWU is gonna make it two in a row. WSU is pretty bad

UNI is 3-0 against K-State (85 86 89) as well as 3-0 against the MAC since 1999

Turns out when you tend to play teams that are ranked in the top 25 it's tougher to win than when you play MAC type teams.

In 1978 Division II Cal Poly beat Division 1-A Cal State Fullerton and Fresno State on back to back weekends.

I guess it was meant to be wins against 1A/FBS in back to back games, not consecutive wins against 1A/FBS even in different years.

Since most schools do not normally schedule back to back games against 1A/FBS (unless you are Savannah St.) it would be rare in any event. I only found Youngstown State winning in actual back to back weekends, but there may be more.

If it was for consecutive 1A games regardless of when, I know Citadel has a streak of 4 wins. It could have been 7 in a row but we lost to AF 7-10 in 1990 a couple weeks before the SC game. Too bad we have not had any since:(

88 - Navy
89 - Navy
90 - AF (Lost), South Carolina
91 - Army
92 - Arkansas, Army

I believe many of you have missed the point (except one person). EWU and UT Martin both have a chance today to make it FBS wins in consecutive weeks. The question is who will lay claim to the distinction first

Gotcha. I think he (poly51) is trying to lay claim to Poly being the first because they are currently FCS

The title of your thread is "Re: Any FCS team ever had 2 FCS (FBS) wins in a row? UT Martin can make history"

Now you are changing the rules.

I mean Poly is an FCS team and it did that first. (First year of 1-AA/FCS I think.)

More FCS trivia:

What 1-AA/FCS team lost to a Division II school and then won the 1-AA National championship in the same year?

Not in consecutive weeks, but App State beat Wake Forest in 1988, again in 1989, and again in 1991.
We also have the most total wins over FBS (7 + a tie). UNI is in 2nd with 6.

That is just wrong.

Youngstown state beat 3 FBS teams in 1 year and you seriously think 7 wins is the most of all FCS teams?

Unfortunately they cant lay claim poly51 because a) their wins in 78 were as a D2 school not I-AA/FCS and b) none of their recent wins have come in back to back weeks
