Unusual but, perhaps, not unwarranted. About the only PLer who comes to mind as maybe, just maybe, meriting consideration for this list would be DL Royce Morgan of Lehigh.

Two first team defense and a second team defense stood out to me for some reason...

ASU has 4 and UNH has 3. I thought it was impressive I guess!

My bad.

Cal Poly has another defensive player who could have easily made preseason team. FS Kenny Chicione made TSN's 2004 post season 2nd team defense after recording 7 INTs and 74 tackles as a sophmore. Last season he missed a couple of games and played sparingly in a couple of others after suffering a concussion and still finished the season with 5 INT's and 70 tackles. Kenny also recorded 59 tackles and 3 INT's his freshman year in 2003. I believe he is the top returning I-AA player in INTs with 15.

From the TSN article "The 21 programs of the MAAC, Northeast Conference and Pioneer Football League, which play at a non-scholarship or limited scholarship level, make up the I-AA Mid-Major ranks"

I haven't seen Cal Poly, but I'd cross my fingers their DL & LB on the list don't see a drop off in production now that Gocong is gone & they see much more attention. Just mentioning this because Delaware had that happen last year with Tom Parks, who became invisible after talented players around him graduated.

Don't sweat it. It is a team game. Furman's got one on the list and we (AGS) think FU is #5 in the country.

Cosmo - to me there are at least one or two players who could be on the 1-aa squad - even if it is honorable mention.

Phaydavong is one of them...

Oh, I thought you were disappointed there was no honorable mention All-America team for mid-majors . .

We in the Patriot League are disappointed that there are only two players on the All-America list (OT Saint Germain of Lafayette and DE Morgan of Lehigh), both honorable mention. The honorable mention is in the sense that it's a third team, not that there are a number of players listed at each position that are deserving of recognition. By the way, Phaydavong was listed as the No. 15 RB in I-AA by Dougherty, so he's been mentioned previously.
