It is just a message board rumor....but the timing is curious given the CAA's football media day upcoming.

I would think the CAA would wait until after Media Day to announce any additions.

I don't see why an emergency meeting would be required if the topic were new members. If any school leaves at this point, the move would be unlikely to effect this year's schedule. The only "emergency" meeting I could see would be to create a "face saving" statement to release when someone leaves, and that could be done by a conference call.

The SoCon always manages to keep things pretty private. To my knowledge, "insiders" are batting .000 on getting information correct about what is going on with the SoCon. Let's just wait and see, shall we?

Yep. Some SoCon schools are leaving for the CAA. It's just a matter of how many and which ones at this point.

A very strong indicator that CAA is going after CoC and/or Davidson, IMO.

Our AD has already made it public that Davidson and CofC have gotten invitations. Sam can be awesome sometimes. There is no mention of App. State (As if App. State would even consider the CAA).

Davidson football will remain in the Pioneer, I would imagine?

All signs point to yes.

I don't think Davidson has any interest in re-instituting scholarship football.

Unless Davidson has higher aspirations for football, of course . . . . xcoolx

Looks like CoC is definitely one of the schools the CAA is targeting.

The CAA is reportedly also interested in SoCon member Davidson.

Yep, that settles it allright. xconfusedx Are you kidding me? Report of a rumor of an innuendo.

It may well be that every rumor of each SoCon school said to be leaving for the CAA turns out to be factual, but you guys are repeatedly citing little more than conjecture as your source.

Are there valid reasons for some SoCon schools to be checking out the CAA? Certainly! But to me, the reasoning that they are looking to the CAA as a safe haven from a potentially unstable future SoCon is just the height of irony. If each of these schools stay put, the SoCon is the picture of stability. The CAA, on the other hand, has been rocked by recent defections and, IMO, is more likely than the SoCon to face more of the same in the future.
