Along with replacing my worn our car flags and getting a new Appalachian t-shirt, polo shirt and sweatshirt, this is going to be my major offseason tailgate purchase:

Thanks for the reminder. I need new flags. I should probably go ahead and order another side of beef from the farmer down the road. That was a great help last year ... lots of really good beef fajitas, steaks, hamburgers. Is it September yet?

Thanks for the recommendation. The cow we got was belted galloway and lived just down the road from us. We know the farmer. They use a packer in Greeneville, TN just over the mountain who packs to order. Plus, the farmer delivers the flash frozen vacuum packed side to our basement freezer.
Where is Sipes?

It's all about the Lafayette - Lehigh game up in our neck of the woods. No preparation needed.

Wikipedia says-"Lehigh -Lafayette"?????????"No preparation needed" is probably what the coaching staff has told your team lately. While you think you might be ready for this seasons tailgates, please let your coaching staff know that they may want to prepare for the games.BTW,is the picture above a rally for gay marriage or what?

That's a picture from the 2010 game at Lafayette, where the party is alive and respectful for Lehigh and Lafayette fans alike. Do you really want me to post images of last year's Lehigh fan behavior at the Saucon Cow Pasture?

I didn't think so.

And I could edit the Wikipedia page at my whim. Perhaps I would if I harbored a Lehigh inferiority complex.

That's how our neighbor raises her beef, too. We were thrilled with the quality of the side last year. We also enjoyed the taste difference between our side and store-bought stuff.

As can I, those fajitas were delicious! All this tailgating talk is torture, September cannot get here soon enough.

Sounds awesome and that is the way it should be done. You can taste a difference when you have a grass fed steak and a store bought corn fed steak.

Luckily, we have lots of those sorts of options in the areas we live in.xthumbsupx

Going and talking to the actual farmer and rancher that are setting your table up is pretty cool.

If you're in Boone for the game, come by and enjoy some good NC cow.

We certainly will give that a shot. Sounds like we're likely to be in Raley so if that's where ya are then all that much easier.

I'm in the stadium lot pretty close to the top (closest to the stadium). You'll likely pass us as you walk up to the stadium. Man, I'm ready for September!

As we walk down from the library deck to go to the game we always walk through Raley lot and we always apply the quote "we have arrived at the promise land". Half old farts half rookies can't get any better tailgating in the country than there.

Well I certainly can't wait but just so ya know we do fairly well on our own around Montana. First thing our friend Appaholic said when he was walking into the tailgates with me a couple years back was "well, they definitely got us beat in tailgating." Actually, he said that to another dude he had called on our way to the tailgates.

He may have been wrong and can't wait to see it for myself. Sounds pretty comparable to me.

Well, it is less than a month away for me to be able to do pre-season tailgating at a couple Panthers games. I should be in full form come September 8th!

We do well, but I don't think we can top two bands. That said, we'll do our best to make ya'll fell welcome.

The Student Yosef Club is throwing a concert / eats extravaganza on the Friday before the Montana game for SYC members. The food is being provided by several Boone restaurants including Makoto's and Chick-Fil-A for SYC members. The concert will be on Duck Pond Field which means that anyone can listen. Those of you who are Appalachian students should go ahead and join SYC to be part of the festivities. I wish I could remember which bands are playing. While not technically part of the tailgating for the game, this SYC pre-game concert idea is a great one.

I've been working on completing my custom horseshoe pit for the Cal Poly vs UC Davis Horseshoe Classic game. Wish I could take the whole pit to the game, but I plan on having a pregame tournament at my house prior to tailgate activites. Finished making the custom inaugural trophy today!!
