View Full Version : Team Most Likely To Start 0-2 In 2012

DFW HOYA
May 30th, 2012, 10:02 AM
Savannah State opens at Oklahoma State and then off to Florida State, with only four home games this season.

(If the Tigers are trying to avoid a third consecutive 1-10 season, this isn't going to help things. Of course, it does pay the bills.)

UNI isn't any better. At Wisconsin and Iowa. UNI may be more competitive, but I can't imagine them winning either of these games.

UCA could possibly start 0-2 with a game at Ole Miss and a game at Murray State..

But to our credit, we'll follow it with Bacone State...

EIU doesn't have killer competition (SIU, @Western Michigan) however with a new coach and new system it's not going to be pretty at first. The best chance for a win this season is Game 6 against Austin Peay.

GA Southern could be 0 - 2 after a home opener against Jacksonville and then a visit to The Citadel. Don't expect it to go that way, but it could.

In the BSC I see possibly Eastern Washington if they lose to Idaho (Wash St will be a loss). If EWU plays like they did against South Dakota they will definately be 0-2. NAU, Sac State if they can't get past New Mexico State (Colorado will be a loss), Southern Utah (Utah State, and Cal) and Weber State (Fresno State, BYU).

Starting with ECU and Montana could spell another 0-2 start a la 2009 when ASU opened with ECU and McNeese St. I know ECU is coming off a down year and the Pirate fans are antsy to see their team bounce back to fight for the tops in C-USA. Montana tends to reload so it'll be interesting to see how the program can manage after losing so much in the offseason.

Looking only at the Patriot League, DFW, here are my personal odds for each team starting the season by losing their first two:

BUCKNELL = 60%
@ Marist
@ Delaware

COLGATE = 80%
@ Albany
@ South Dakota

FORDHAM = 5%
Lock Haven (H)
@ Villanova

GEORGETOWN = 15%
@ Davidson
Wagner (H)

HOLY CROSS = 75%
New Hampshire (H)
Brown (H)

LAFAYETTE = 80%
@ Willam & Mary
Pennsylvania (H)

LEHIGH = 5%
Monmouth
@ Central Connecticut

App's success will come down to Jamal Jackson making plays on offense. The defense already makes App one of the best teams in the Southern Conference. There is no Brian Quick as a playmaker any longer. Players will have to step up to replace his production.
