Huh. and to think, he was only a nice bag of kush away from being the starter.

Thorpe has applied for a 6th year of eligibility with the NCAA due to an injury sustained earlier in his career. JMU thinks he has a very good chance of receiving the waiver or maybe he already has. If Thorpe gets his 6th year Edwards won't start his final year at JMU so his transfer makes sense if you look at it that way. Edwards proved to be a capable backup this past season so this hurts a bit. Hopefully one of these three QBs JMU brought in this year is the real deal.

Thorpe was going to be back this year no matter what. The 6th year of eligibility would be for the 2013 season if the waiver comes through.

He wouldn't have the waiver yet - they would wait until after his 5th year before they rule on it. And no matter the thinking, it's never a slam dunk to get that year. Plenty of players had actual injuries that should've given them a good shot at getting the 6th and they were turned down. It's a coin flip either way, and probably not with a true 50/50 coin either.

Didn't realize they wouldn't know until after he wraps up his 5th year. So I guess he is concerned he wouldn't get any playing time this season and could potentially lose out to Reynolds or Fisher next year.

Looks like former 4-star Ocean Lakes QB Lafonte Thoroughgood will be transferring to JMU from Vanderbilt. Not sure if he is going to play QB or RB but if he plays QB that will likely solve the backup quarterback issue.

He was in Harrisonburg over the weekend and the JMU Football FB page now says, "The Dukes just became a better football program!!! The 757 is good to JMU!!!". Just putting two and two together.

Wow...good get. Say, think you guys could throw W&M a bone and give us one of your top 3 QBs?

He would make a pretty good TE as well.
