Lewis will be at MSU tomorrow (Monday) and he will also be touring NAU and UNI later on.

Rumors: USC’s Lewis could transfer to MSU

Sources close to the Montana State University football program say that highly touted wide receiver Whitney Lewis of the University of Southern California is considering a transfer to MSU.

Lewis, a 6-foot-1, 225 lb. junior, is expected to visit the Bozeman campus on Monday and is also said to be touring the University of Northern Arizona and University of Northern Iowa programs next week.

He denied rumors that he was considering a transfer to MSU last December saying, “rumors as always. That’s just random stuff, I’m a Trojan for life.”

Lewis found himself the odd man out at USC, which has had an overflow of talent at receiver in recent years. Lewis went to the Trojans after being named to the first team of the prestigious Parade All-America team after senior year at St. Bonaventure High School in Oxnard, Calif.

He was named to virtually every high school All-America team after a senior season in which he had 65 catches for 1,235 yards with 16 touchdowns and ran for 1,059 yards on 112 carries with 23 touchdowns. He scored a total of 268 points with 42 total touchdowns, which equated to a touchdown every 4.5 times he touched the ball.

He suffered a shoulder injury in fall camp in 2005 and was used sparingly. In 2003 he played several positions despite a knee injury and caught three passes for 27 yards and had three carries for 11 yards.

The Bobcats, who are looking for receivers after losing three starters to graduation, have already brought in Donnell Wheaton of UNLV and Michael Jefferson of Arizona.
