View Full Version : Where is your student section located?

Maine has decided to move their student section from behind their bench to the other side. UM will most likely put them in the east stands between the fieldhouse and visitors section with the band in between to serve as a buffer. I've seen other schools with the similar setup. I was just wondering where your school puts their students?

Students usually only sit in SA and SB though. Those are almost never filled themselves.

Somewhere outside the gates of Estes Stadium...um..the students tend to go where the beer flows and that's around the end zone outside the gates. xlolx

In this pregame ariel photo, you can see a small mass of students beginning to gather on the lower right hand side of the stands on the visitors side. The big empty spot next to them is where the band sits and fill it up completely. If you look at the tents in the lower right hand corner, the beer is flowing. xlolx

10 yard line, home side. One of the many oddities of the MSF is that the construction stopped at the 30, so the stands are not balanced. (The only other stands I've seen like this were the Butler Bowl before the pre-2010 renovations.

At Cowboy Stadium the students sit on the same side as the McNeese bench. The McNeese bench is on the opposite side from the pressbox side.

There is no true "student section" at Bragg Memorial Stadium...but the entire East Side of the stadium is general admission and is referred to as the "Student Side"

Redhawk2010
May 2nd, 2012, 11:44 PM
The North Side of the stadium is general admission at Houck Stadium. The band sits near one endzone and the students typically fill in around them. The students and the opposing team's fans normally mix to some degree. Many of the visiting fans will sit right in the middle of that side. Students like to line the rail that separates the stands from the visiting team's bench.

Planty of empty seats!

Seriously though, I thought it was cool that all your frats/sororities each have a bench seat painted with their colors, letters ect. I wasn't greek while I was at App, but I thought that was a cool and original idea.

Don't worry about it. Ours has been behind the visitor bench ever since I can remember and there really haven't been any actual altercations that I can recall. We do have decent security and a dry campus so that might help but, generally, whoever's team is losing usually doesn't have much to say anyway.

I'm surprised so few stadiums have end zone seating. That is a perfect opportunity to create a hostile starting environment for your opponents.

A lot of people consider those to be the **** seats. They would rather sit higher up at midfield than lower on the endzone. Every person has a different opinion on seat preference, but most seem to dislike looking down the field.

It's a rough view to get used to, and is a really s****y place to sit if your team isn't very good. It's fantastic when you've got a team thats scoring at will a few yards away from you, but gets a tad tiring to watch the other team do the same from that vantage point. I sat in the end zone at the Nova/Temple game this year and the view was not nearly as good as my usual seats perched in one of the last rows near the 15 yard line at Villanova Stadium. The same goes for basketball too. The basket/ goal posts can get in the way, and when the actions on the other end you don't see too much.

SEMO has tailgating in the east endzone (boosters) and then on the west end is where the athletic training room and home locker room is at. In addition, that same building is actually a residence hall. Some of the students in that building would watch the game from their rooms...

How many seats does each school devote to its student section? ISU's student section is in a bit of flux this year, but we should have close to 5,000 next year along the southern 4 sections of the west sideline.
