This is a tounge in cheek type post but interesting none the less! This quote is from todays Missioulian where they are talking about the Iowa game being on ESPNU and the problems getting the team there.

For this game, however, 70 Griz will be allowed to go. Because of weight limits on airplanes, the Griz are looking at different charters.

“With our strength and conditioning program going the way it is, a lot of thse kids are 10 or 15 pounds heavier,” O'Day noted. “We have looked at a couple different options. One of the ways is flying commercial to Des Moines and driving 120 miles to Iowa City.”

We're going to have some hogs this year. Probably 5 OLinemen in excess of 300 lbs. and a couple DLinemen over 300 lbs. And I'm not talking 6'2" guys with big guts. Our linemen are 6'5" to 6'8" with thick but good physiques.

Cody Bolough 6'7" 320 - Cody shut down Buchanan winner Chris Gocong to 10 total tackles and 0 sacks in two games against the Griz.

No doubt about it, Montana has moving mountains playing for them. I remember coming out there for a whipping back in 1992 and the third teamers were as big as the first.

NDSU also shut down Gocong in SLO.

Looks like shutting down one man was not the solution for both teams.

Montana shut Chris Gocong out (held him to no sacks) in the first game, but Gocong racked up three sacks against Montana in the playoffs. I do not know if Gocong's 3 sacks were against Cody Bolough because he rushes from both sides of the defense. I do know that Gocong took personal responsiblity for the first loss against Montana and he came out with something to prove in the playoffs.

BTW, that is Cal Poly DE Matt Chachere in the picture going against Bolough.

Gocong had five solo tackles, 2 asst. tackles and 1 sack against NDSU last year in a 37-6 win in which he did not play much of the fourth quarter because Cal Poly was up by so much. I do not know about you, but I would not say that NDSU shut down Gocong.

I didn't find a pic of him with Gocong. But he plays tackle on Gocongs side.

Your right he had 3 sacks in the playoff, I missed that. So he had 10 tackles and 3 sacks in two games. Was Cal Poly moving Chris away form Cody's side that game? I think they might have been doing that.

We will have some hogs ourselves this year.....

Hunter Schmidt 6-3, 303
Akem Retig 6-5, 351
Lance Hancock 6-5, 295
Brandon Hale 6-3, 311
Aaron Saunders 6-7, 305
R.C. Fairchild 6-3, 300

Gocong always played on the wide side of the field so he probably went against Bolough about 50% of the time.

I was not trying to take anything away from Montana's O-line. They are big and mobile and work well as a unit. I also heard they had a good spring and obviously the new strength coach is adding to their size so they should even be better next year.

At the I-AA level, big guys are easy to find. Big guys that can move are not. I remember the SFA line coming to Bozeman was gigantic, but they didn't get any push and we stuffed the running game and sacked the QB a number of times.

#57 DE Matt Chachere had 11 tackles and 1 sack in the two games against the Griz. As a team the Griz O-line held Cal Poly to only 1 sack and open huge holes in the Mustang defense allowing Lex Hilliard to rush for 237 yards in their first meeting. In the second meeting Cal Poly recorded 7 sacks and held Hilliard to 94 yards.

LOL.:D 20 carries for 94 yards (4.7 ypc), 2 TD's. 2 catches for 66 yards and 1 TD. 160 yards from scrimmage and 3 TD's. See that's what I'm talking about folks. That's what opponents consider shutting down Lex Hilliard.xlolx

Ronbo, I never said we shut Lex down. You have to admit that Lex had a better game the first time the Griz and Mustangs played then he did the when the met the second time. I was just pointing out that the Griz O-line had a much better game one then game two. I will say I would much rather give up 160 total yards than 237 rushing yards.
