View Full Version : Nicholls state gets rid of the windsurfer

Nicholls State University is dropping its stylized logo for a one-letter emblem like those common at brand-name Ivy League schools. Many people say the old logo looks more like a windsurfer than anything else. The new logo is a block red letter N, outlined in grey _ the same general style as those commonly found on letter sweaters _ with a grey sword behind the letter and in front of the grey outline.

Too bad. I've always felt like NSU had one of the best helmets in the country. I agree with this move about as much as I agreed with making their coach a scapegoat for all of their troubles last year.

Ahhh, I thought they were referring to the stylized "N" with the sword through it. Thanks for clearing that up.

A Massachusetts consulting firm, Lapham/Miller, was hired for 49-thousand dollars to design a new Nicholls logo and provide other ideas meant to distinguish the university from other regional, publicly funded schools.

They paid 49K to get an "N" with a sword through it. :eek:

To be distinguised from other regional, publically funded schools...like, say...Northwestern State. Its logo is an "N" with a pitchfork through it.

DeSales University paid some consulting firm several years ago to find a new nickname. The school was changing its name from Allentown College of St. Francis DeSales and wanted to drop their nickname, which had been "Centaurs." Personally, I thought that was cool and unique. Anyway, some consulting firm was laughing all the way to the bank as they took the new university's money and suggested "Bulldogs."

The good fathers at DeSales got hoodwinked!
