December 2005 seems like an awfully long time ago. The aftermath of Hurricane Katrina was still hammering the Gulf Coast. The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were going poorly. The iPad hadn't been invented. Facebook was in its infancy. No Twitter. And I had just gotten engaged, eight months from being married and a long way removed from a new house, two different jobs and two kids. A much different time.
