My sign next weekend will read.

"Take your Bear Dick back to Arkansas and put it away until next year".

I also cant wait to hear Bob The Blob Hermes say the following:

"Bobo, Smothers, Dick in the backfield and its a dive, hard up the middle"

"Dick passes to Soft, the ball is tipped and bobbles in his hands.............incomplete"

Grady Bennet: Hey Bob? Do you think Dick is getting rid of it prematurely?

Hermes: You know Grady, you got a good eye for Dick and he seems to be getting a lot of the wrinkles out of his game lately.

"Dick is really running hard today"

"I like how Dick is jamming it up the middle all day, he came to play"

I was just surprised he asked someone from Butte if he could be more drunk. Challenge accepted...

A new battle of the Bears! I think the last one was in Orofino a few years back (against the ursines from Maine, of course). It sounded like UCA had an interesting offensive setup/variation; and they won big on the road, so expecting a good game next weekend!

As pass happy as CArk is they are gonna hate next weekend.

I dont think they match up too well with our DL and we will get some pressure on them without blitzing. If they go 3 and out and we put points on the board this one is going to get out of hand real fast.

Of the six home games we have had so far this year (all wins), we have won three of them by 21+. A Div. II team, 0-11 UNC, and Weber State in perhaps the best game we've played all year. I wouldn't be quit so confident of such a lopsided score.

Are you referring to a game played in Wa-Griz or Texas?

Squealofthepig
November 26th, 2011, 08:49 PM
Unless they are playing in August.

Very true that (back in '04). But, the last Southland conference team who came in predicting they'd win at Wa-Griz and that the atmosphere would not be a factor (the threads are still there to be found, I'm sure), was SFA in '09. I believe the ten turnovers committed by the Lumberjacks in that game is still the FCS record.

'04 and '09 have no real bearing here though - I expect this to be a good game - and I'm real curious how our defensive gameplan is being drawn up.

Bold statements from you and others in Bison-land. Remember, you were Division II only a handful of years ago. Certainly understandable coming from fans in Montana, but NDSU hasn't proved it's worth over the years in 1-AA/FCS like others to be boasting so much...

As for the Bears, just remember it is only their 2nd year eligible for the playoffs. As a fan I want a win, so do the players I'm sure, but Montana has apparently been bad luck for Southland teams so I'm cautious.

Todd's journey to KATV began immediately after he graduated Little Rock Catholic High School in 1992. In 1996 he graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in broadcast journalism. He continued his education in meteorology at Mississippi State University where he was certified as a broadcast meteorologist by the Department of Geoscience and Meteorology. Todd took his first television job in Missoula, Montana as the morning meteorologist then the chief meteorologist. He says he will never forget his first winter up north, where 111 inches of snow fell. He learned how to snow ski and fly fish.

It's not thin air; Missoula is only about 1700 feet higher than Fayetteville. Yeah, if you climb Stuart Peak (8000 feet) or South Lolo (9192), you'll get some thinner air (and a bunch of snow). At 3100 feet, Missoula is actually one of the lowest big sky towns. Flagstaff, Arizona (home to NAU) is at more than twice the elevation (6,910).

Can I get Cold Smoke in Chicago? Cause if I can't I'm doomed. I'm happy to see my microbrew options expanding, but this town is notorious for drinking crappy rice beer.

I saw an ad on a Blackhawks game. I think the place was called Binny's Beverage Depot. Hit the website, and the place is LOADED with microbrews. 80 some stouts alone. Check there.

This is why Big Sky is LOVED by packers in the Bob Marshall Wilderness; you can't pack in glass, but every mule train you see will probably be carrying some Trout Slayer or Slow Elk.

Big Sky cans beers but they are in the 12oz cans. Kettlehouse cans are 16oz and normally sold in a 4 back but yeah they are starting to think outside the box by canning crafted beers..

Weather shouldn't be an obstacle, but "30 to 32 degrees" is pretty off. Should be 23-27 degrees during gametime. Still, shouldn't be a factor, and I was hoping for single digit temperatures tomorrow.

That is balmy indeed. There's already been a snow in Arkansas (last week), and we're expecting snow/ice in the Dallas area on Monday. Bring out the shorts and t-shirts for the game tomorrow!

Nahh. Just being greedy. Wa-Griz atmosphere is at its best when the players are in short sleeves with single digit temperatures and a raucous crowd.

Snow is welcome. I've been snowed on all but two months of the year this year - and July cut it close (as I was snowed on in The Bob on August 1st while climbing around on Scapegoat Mountain).

If your ISP has espn3 you can just click a video.

If they do not you need to have the log in information from a friend whos ISP does support it. (typically their ISP based email address and pw.)

espn's box score: http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/boxscore?gameId=313370149

Agree on the first quarter; you started strong, forcing a three and out (as an illegal formation negated our first down on our opening drive)... then turned the ball over on the punt. It was 17-0 after the first quarter (with all points coming off turnovers), and that's a hard hole to put yourself in.

I thought the Bears did really well in the environment; I think there were only 2 false start penalties on the Bears, and one of those looked more like miscommunication than crowd noise. Your punter also had one hell of a day, and kicked the hell out of the ball. Dick looks to be a great quarterback, we got lucky with some well-thrown balls that were dropped.

Griz passing was a bit of a question mark. While we did running back by committee, some of our passing plays - especially the two pics that were thrown into double and then triple coverage - really left some of us scratching our heads.

Grats on a good season and coming this far this quickly - it looks like you guys have a lot to be proud of, and I hope your fans who made the trip to Missoula had a good time despite the loss!

Nice way to sum it up. The noise or the cold apparently didn't have an affect on the team as there were very few flags for motion. I think what got us was the 3 down conversions at critical times in the game. Run game held to 25 yards. Defense wore out by big nasty linemen. Montana was the better team but I think UCA hurt itself greatly in the first quarter. Some observations:

I'm not sure Grandy touched the punt by Montana but it was hard to tell on espn3. Anybody see that for sure? Not that it matters in the end but replays showed he didn't touch it just reached for it. I guess I'll see on the coaches show and replays on channel 6 here.

The Montana TD in the endzone that flew out of bounds after the catch...or whatever that was. Was it a catch. They didn't replay it to tell if it was. Again, no biggie just wondering what the ref saw.

Loved seeing the d-linemen pushing Nathan in the first quarter after the play. He came up on him like 3 seperate times after the play. I was laughing so hard in disbelief. I wanted Nathan to "flop" like they do in the NBA to get a flag. xlolx Just kidding.

Enjoyable game and well predicted by Montana fans...oh and I also saw where Montana State slipped by UNH...good football there in Montana!

And Carroll College (Helena) won in their NAIA playoff game today too, and will play Saint Xavier in that championship division. Carroll is the reigning NAIA champ.

Sure didn't look like a TD but...who knows. Only showed 2 replays I think.

The UCA fans that I met were great. Nothing but good things to say about the town/fans.
